Benz Key for your FD
I've got a guy in Taiwan that is selling me a blank benz style key that is supposedly modified with a Mazda FD key. he claims the quality is superb!
I should be getting it in a week or so and I'm going to have a locksmith cut the key. I'll let you know how it all turns out.
At any rate, if its of good quality, I'll see what I can do about getting more to sell. Let me know if any of you would be interested.

sorry dude, I hated those benz keys, you can't put them with any other keys so they are so easy to be misplaced and lost. I have a 97 S class and a 2001 S class, hated their keys. And actually one fell out of my pocket when I was riding in my friend's car, imagine if I were riding on a public transport, it would be gone.

The hype is all in your head, Frank.

To each their own. If you want one, cool, do it up, I just wouldn't want one and was wondering why everyone thought they were so cool.

Understood. And of course you are entitled to your opinion. My point being, no one here is hyping it up, at least it doesn't appear that way to me.
As far as why someone would like one:
1. They're nice keys. Why do you think Benz uses them?
2. The buttons can be made functional. It'll take some tinkering, but I'm almost certain it can be done.

It's pointless if the buttons don't work. Might as well get the JDM keyless entry key for $80. Then at least you have the option of later putting in the actuators and it being functional.

To those that have expressed some interest, I will PM you to let you know how well the key works and whether I was able to modify it to work with my alarm system.

If it could be programmed so I could replace my alarm remote I would jump on it. Otherwise it's just a conversation piece.

Don't buy one, make your own.
A friend of mine used this guide to make a switchbalde key for his 240sx. Took some time, but it was cool when t was done. He just painted over the VW logo and found a Nissan decal from some car model to fit in that circle. He might have had to shorten his Nissan key a little, but I don't memeber.

Heh, I can see some airport screener confiscating your car keys:
Security: Sir, is that a knife?
You: No! It's just my car key-- watch this... 'click'
Security: SWARM!!, SWARM!!, SWARM!!
Channel 7: LAX terminal 1 was shut down for five hours today, after a man tried to pass through airport security with what police say, was an unusually dull and worn switchblade knife. Witnesses say the man was subdued by a swarm of security guards, treated for injuries, and turned over to the police. As he was led away in handcuffs, he was heard to scream, "THE RX7CLUB KNOWS ABOUT YOU!"
