Autometer Boost Gauge

I would like to make a cosmetic change to the needle to make it match the stock gauges. Is there any way to open it up without breaking it?

You should be able to do it. I think the ring pops off... But I'm not sure. I was going to remove the faces and needles and put them in the stock locations in my FD, but never got around to really trying to tear them apart..

I inspected mine yesterday and the ring seems to be pressed/crimped on. Not sure if it can be opened that way.

I dont think you can oppen it from the ring, ring is crimped but I think you can take the whole cup with ring and glass out from back of the gauge there should be a nut in the midle where the fitting for hose is, you take that nut out and the cup should com right of and than you'll get its guts out.

Try that it may work, is been a pretty long while I haven't open one, I might be wrong though.

I don't think it can be done w/o destroying the Bezel - on the AutoMeter gauges the gauge mechanism is attached to the back of the housing and the glass faces are locked to the front of the housing by crimping the bezel. you can remove the mechanism (including the face & pointer) by cutting the bezel off the housing, However you have to destroy either the bezel or the housing to do so.

I am currently working on a custom instalation of some AutoMeter gauges in the inst. panel of my fd and so am very familiar w/ the construction of the gauges.
