Anyone ever used paintscratch's OEM color spray cans?
Just got mine in the mail, VR color.
I bought it because i wanted to spray the bottom of the car, the area below the driver side door because its chipped pretty good. It was like that when i first got the car but now its bothering me.
My question is, how many coats should i use on it?
The chips are all at random spots and more towards going to the rear driver wheel.
Also, they shipped me 2 bottles.
A basecoat can, and a mid-coat can. That equals a tri-coat correct?
Second question is do i still need to apply a clearcoat over this, and will any brand be suffice??
I know i have to be extra careful because if i make a mistake, im f'ed. Not like im painting wheels and i can start over. Starting over means i have to take it to a body shop lol.
Ill try to get pics of the area i wanna paint but i would appreciate all feedback. Thanks

well first ur gonna have to scuff the area if u want to spray the area base and mid coat wont stick to clear coat. Get a gray sotch bright pad and some scuff gel and go untill its not shiny then i would do 2 coats and 2 coats. I would get some 2k clear if u can spray from a gun the 1k clear kinda sucks a lot.

I cant just paint over the surface after i thoroughly clean it??
Im not going for the professional look, i just wanna cover up the paint chipping. Ill be doing body/paint work sometime in the future.
And on the back of the can, it said "be sure to apply clearcoat once paint coat dries".

Never used this to paint an area like that...but you will def have to prep the area per posts already mentioned. mainly used this stuff to touch up/get rid of rust spots (cleaned off the rut to bare metal of course) in the engine bay only...where the look doesn't matter all too much.
I say get side skirts lol.

Kinda scared to put any type of scuffing pad to my paint, because i dont want the end result to be worse than what i started with but if you say it has to be done for the new paint to stick, ill try it.
Or you think i should try this on my mud guards first to see how it comes out? Because they need a good refinish too.
So after i do all this, prepping and spraying the new paint. I cant just get those duplicolor clear coat cans and going over it??
I dont understand what you mean when you say 2k or 1k clear.
Thanks for all the info though man.
