Need Advice: Repair for Small Paint Chip
Hey guys,
Hopefully sometime this year I'll get my FD into a shop to have my Burnout widebody kit installed and get the whole thing re-sprayed..
BUT UNTIL THEN....
I have this nice quarter-size chip RIGHT above my license plate, that just erks the living crap out of me.
See below:

*cry*
Is there any method I can use for a temporary "quick fix" to fill in and paint this for a reasonable price by myself? Or should I just take it to a shop?

Id say you have two options.. If your color is stock: The cheapest but may not be perfect is go and order a ding sample cover up from Mazda. The only issue is that the samples may not match perfectly. The other is go to a body shop and have them whip you a small sample that will match.
I actually had a bigger chip and a large enough scuff mark on my front bumper. Since mine is a semi custom color I went to a local autobody shop and asked them to mix me a small batch for ding repair. They tried a few batches but the color was slightly off and I didn't want to pay for the time so they sold me their closest match of the yellow + a small flask of orange + a small flask of black. I went home and the GF (she is good at that stuff) matched it perfectly. It was applied via a small paint brush, and the total bill was around $20 bucks. The end result is that its not noticeable unless I point it out but it sure beats a respray.
