Anyone else think blackout gauges are ugly?
So with the arrival of my Innovate LC1/XD-16 package, I've been debating a new gauge setup for my car. I'm pretty much set on another set of Defis (previous owner had a nice arrangement of Defis installed), but all of their highest-end gauges are the 'blackout' kind that turn completely black when the power is shut off.
Am I the only one that thinks these gauges are ridiculously ugly? I don't know why but I -HATE- the blackout look. I know people are always drooling over their MAD JDM TYTENESS, but I think they look like ****. I'm probably going to settle on the Defi Link series, but I was wondering if anyone had any other input

No it's not Turbo'd
I'm conflicted, I could give a $hit about JDM... but I like the fact that people peering through your window can't size up what up have gauge wise (performance), or how much $$ you have in them... On the flip side, I like OEM look (I have Defi-D) and matching what I already have instead of an skittles color set... So I have issues with the blackout unless someone makes some tint or a film that can be hooked up into the setup to make the stock gauges do so as well... (turn black) ...

are you judging off of pictures or have you actually seen it in person? I kind of felt the same until i saw them in person, after seeing them i order a boost gauge immediately. I think it looks great, if you cant find anyone with them check out the 350z's as i believe they have blackout gauges in the center console.

the blackout is never totally black and they look tacky.
no, i'll stick to my CF autometer gauges thanks (would LOVE a nice set of older defis though)

blackout is pretty gay but with the growing trend, every company worth buying from has all their gauges like that so i guess we gotta be trendy like all the other **** and use em. i really do hate them

I used to like the blackout look.
Not anymore though.
I miss being able to see my gauges during the daytime without any internal lighting. The blackouts during the sunny days actually seems harder to see.
