amp turns self off on cd mode
When I'm listening to the radio the amp is on because the light for the amp goes on, but once I change my source to CD on the Sony deck the light turns off and my rear speakers also turn off. Why?!

its an aftermarket amp installed by last owner. I think its called MTX or ATX. It works fine with radio but once i hit the button for cd it turns off like it dims then goes off.
Its weird b/c my cds use to work fine. The only thing I've done in between when it worked and did not work was replaced old bulbs for rear lights, added new headlights and added a new battery.

you have your amp turn on wire hooked up to your power antenna turn on wire, so basically your radio feeds a 12v source to tell your power antenna to turn on so when you go to cd's it turns off. you need to hook it up to the remote turn on wire or your ignition line for the radio so it turns on with the deck. the remote turn on wire is blue with a white stripe, or the ignition is red as long as it is an aftermarket deck.

gotta be a head unit problem.. maybe something interal is shorted, so when you hit CD it sends a short to the amp in turn putting it into protect mode shutting it down... or just shorting out the remote wire loosing power to that for some odd reason, use a voltmeter to test 12v on the remote wire in the different functions to eliminate amp/head unit problems

then take the car to a place that does car audio. like stated, the amps remote power wire is obviously connected to the head units power ant lead. if the head unit doesn't have a seperate remote amp lead, that wire from the amp will need to be connected to the wire that powers the head unit.
