amp question
amp question
ok, I am reinstalling the factory Bose system right now and I got everything working but the rear speakers. This is the only thing that is non-stock, I have an after market kenwood amp to run them. Basically I have the speaker wires running through a line level converter that switches them to RCA outputs then I hooked everything up to my amp. Nothing happens. There are places on the amp for ground, P.conn, and Batt but the stock amp only had two wires, a ground and a power wire from the radio relay I think. Everyone was saying there should be a blue wire that goes from the head unit to the amp that is the P.conn port but the stock doesn't have that so should I just split the power wire and run power to both P.conn and Batt? Help!
Power on the amp is CONSTANT +12 V, P. Conn is SWITCHED +12 V (or the blue/white wire from most aftermarket decks). If you are trying to run this (amp) with your factory head unit, and it doesn't have speaker level inputs, you should wire the power control (P. Conn) to accesory somewhere. That way the amp is only on when the radio is.
Having said that... I agree that running stock speakers with a bad idea.

if you look in your stereo compartment you will find a yellow wire that has a fuse on it. tie a wire from that to your amp's remote or what ever it is called. and when you turn on your car your amp will turn on as well if you did it right.
