Alternative Solution for Tan to Black Conversion
I picked up my dream rolling Fd a couple months ago and have been in the process of getting it road worthy. My only issue with my Fd was the Tan interior was dingy and in need of some serious cleaning.
I decided I wanted black interior rather than the tan, after all the tan interior is just overwhelming in my opinion. So I got with Tony Fleming at Precisions Tint Seats and Stuff, I met him through my Fantasy Football league, and discussed possible alternatives to the tan.
Option 1: Purchase black interior pieces from the forum, which cost major $$
Option 2: Dye the panels, which as everyone knows, NEVER turns out well
Option 3: Wrap the panels in black suede/microfiber material.
I decided to give option 3 a try. Tony went ahead and wrapped the following pieces
Gauge hood
both door panels
rear bins and lids
Rear quarter panels
rear divider
both kick panels
Headliner
sunroof
I was amazed how well everything turned out, A couple of piece were dyed just b/c they couldn't be wrapped. Such as: inside the rear bins, speaker grills, vents on door panels, and backside of rear divider.
Posted are some pics of the pieces I've installed already. I'm waiting for my black seat belts to finish up the install.
I'd appreciate you letting me know what you think of it

I'm liking how they look, but I'd have to see it with the whole interior inside the car... definitely like the idea though, very cost efficient. Pics of full interior once everything is installed...please?

Wait until summer.... the door panels will peel off, the panel has too many contours. They do look great, but glue isnt strong enough to hold in the summer heat. I made a few attempts on my door panels and i cant get them hold and we use 3m contact adhesive. If your guy uses something stronger, i would like to know what it is lol.

3m contact adhesive isn't strong enough, its good for more "arts and crafts" type of stuff, thats what my guy said
He purchases his stuff in 5-gallon quantities and didn't seem too eager to tell me what it is, I'll see if I can work it out of him after a couple beers..
he also said, if it came loose and started peeling off, he'd redo it and we'll figure something out,

I was mistaken, the glue we use is not 3m. Its made by the company DAP and its called Weldwood Contact Adhesive. Its not available to the public, so you will have to ask ur guy if its the same stuff he uses. Ours are 5 gallon too, so i imagine its the same stuff. If it is, they are gonna peel up lol.
