alright to run 2 amps for stereo on 2nd gen
i just bought a 89 t2 it has aftermarket head unit and speakers the speakers are wired to a alpine amp and i was wondering if i can put in a 1600 watt amp because i want to put in 2 12'' subs would this be a bad idea due to to much power and have my stuff start shutting off due to to much power being used can i get some help fast i need to get this solved

The 1600 watt amp shouldn't be a problem. If you tune the system so that its balanced(not a ton of bass compaired to the highs) the smaller amp will keep you from getting too much power out of the big amp. Unless you like alot of high freq distortion.
Make sure there is at least 4ga run from the battery. Also it would be a good idea to upgrade the alt charge wire and the battery ground.

what if i get a fd alt i have one made to fit the fc i was planning on running a thick wire from the battery and split it into a y would that help me get the most power out of both of them

any help also i dont know how many watts the amp has for the speakers id say around 600 watts so i would be safe to run a 600 watt amp and a 1600 watt amp at the same time continuously without having my battery die

Check the fuses on each amp, add them up, that will give you the TOTAL MAX amount of amp draw by both amps.
BTW - Most electronics outthere will post their PEAK watts, rather than the RMS watt.

i will do that tomorrow also today i wanted to replace the alpine cd player with a sony everything went good until i had to wire up these 4 wires that run from the amp that went into wires from the old cd player i dont know where to plug them into since the sony cd player dont have anything to plug them into and my cd player turnes on but as soon as you turn it on it turns off after its on for 2 seconds what should i do

i might have to do that now i thought i just would have problems running 2 amps but that turned out to be a easy fix with what people told me me in this post earlier but the real problem is switching headunits guess i will try 1 more time then its going to a stereo installing place
