I can't take credit for the install but my keyless entry alarm has a driver door actuator added AND works with the stock alarm. The actuator is near the bottom of the door to the rear of the handle mechanism and mounted at a slight angle so that it points to the lock button; it's just your generic cheapo type. The rod from the actuator curves up around the bottom of the door latch and engages the tongue on the factory plastic lock lever through a hole drilled just before the factory cable. The actuator does in fact have slightly too much travel and would normally break the lock over time, but a z-bend in the actuator rod acts as a spring to keep this from happening.

Works perfectly every time. I don't know who did the install or how long it's been in there, but I would guess it has been many years. I have had the car for over 2 and have had no problems. The alarm also locks the doors when the car is started as well as unlocking them afterwards so my locks get cycled a LOT in driving everyday. Last time I had my door panel off I forgot to take pics

I got the J-spec door lock from Cantgostraight ......

On another note, I took Icemark's advice and attached an actuator to the plastic on my new CYM and it works flawlessly. I have the actuator mounted almost horizontally. I actually get more space for the power window switch this way .... as opposed to when it was mounted and attached to the cable.

Can anyone tell me what make of actuator this is? It is much more compact then the normal aftermarket ones and I can seem to find anything like it.

actually you can run it with the wiring that goes up into the door and wire it to a fusse box.

ah, I wish the FD had metal rods, but they don't! There is a solid thin metal cable that connects to a metal piece that has the 90 degree bend in it. That connection is crimped together and it breaks REAL easy. I've heard of many people breaking that and I know some shops won't even put in an actuator because of that.
Help! This has happened to me and I've been doing without for about a year till I came across this site and this particluar thread. What are my options?
