99 spec turn lamps, 93-95 OEM bumper

Hey all, im wondering if anyone has ever custom fit the 99 spec turn lamps onto the 93-95 OEM bumper? I like how the OEM bumper looks, and im wondering if anyone has ever done that before?

I don't believe that's possible to do. However, you can buy the OEM bumper from the '99 spec FD's from Jason at www.jt-imports.com He has very reasonable prices as well. But as far as using the 93-98 spec front end I am 99% sure that the '99 spec combo lights won't fit even with cutting. Hope that helps. Laterz.

many threads on this
basically they said it's really not worth it but of course it is possible. You also have to cut the reinforcment holes bigger for the new turn lamps but you have to do that even if you get a 99spec bumper and want to use the same reinforcment. I would just save up for a real new bumper I think it looks way better and it's the first thing I wanted to do to my car when I got it and my suggestion for everyone else too....

I've thought about this too. if the slope of the bumper around the lights is the same I can't see why it wouldn't work. compared to cutting the plate holder off the 99 and grafting a piece of plastic in this should be child's play. However, it would probably wind up costing a couple hundred and you're not going to get the benfit of having larger air inlets as with the newer bumper. Cosmetically, I prefer the general shape of the 93-98 bumper (with the center opening be largest at the bottom compared to the 99 which looks like a smily face) but i wish it had the chrisp sharp edges that the 99-2002 has.

I actually wondered about this too. The front end of the 3rd gen. here in the states has a smoother curve to it, and I feel it fits the car better. I always wondered why it hasn't been tried before. From the side, the 99spec front end appears to be longer than the US 3rd gens. If I didn't need a new bumper at all, I may have looked into this, but saving for the new front end just sounds like a better idea.

TT it looks that way because it is PS=photoshop

I think it looks great. My opinion on the soft edges remains though.

good work

That PSP edit is awesome. I honestly may try this. The only thing though, is that the openings on the 99spec are more aggressive. The psp edit looks a bit too soft. Anyone want to try an edit in black? (or I'll try one myself a bit later.)

Not the same color, but a better frontal view...

hmm idk, the 93 looks really good because it doesnt have a damn plate holder but i think if the 99 had no plate holder it would be better. like the 99 is the 93 justw ith a updated edge to it

I think it looks dorky.

The 99 front has the enlarged openings and meshes pretty well with the larger turn signals and the oil cooler duct openings are also the same shape as the turn signals helping them mesh even better.

The main opening leading to the radiator is the problem with me and the 93 photo. Slightly larger openings for the oil cooler wouldn't hurt either. It would be different to try the mod on the 93 bumper, but ultimately, the 99spec does look better. (It's mainly the openings that are getting me.)
