1979 sa22c interior

Hello!

I own 2 1979s. Im struggling. Youd think pieces would swap easily between the two but they dont.

I know they are different trim levels. One has passenger side hood prop, one rear view mirror, no ac, black interior, center counsel, and a body colored sun roof.

The other has drivers side hood prop, two mirrors, ac, brown interior, no center counsel, and an aftermarket (i think) small glass sunroof.

I have a multitude of issues but ill focus on interior or audio.

#1 - the dash selector levers for air flow and heat are different. The ones i dont want are wide flat and have a white stripe. The ones I need are narrow, long, and all black. Both have tiny set screws on the bottom.

#2 i can not find the fan speed **** for a no ac car anywhere (typical) but i also cant find a part number

#3 i have both antenna motors. They both work. The antenna itself is broke on one. I tried to move the silver part over and found the diameters to be wildly different.

Anyone have part numbers to help me clear us what is going on?

Mazda only made 2 trim levels of cars in 79, S model and GS models. S models came standard with a 4 speed transmission, 2 spoke steering wheel, steel wheels and an ashtray between the seats. GS models added either a 5 speed manual or 3 sp automatic transmission, 4 spoke steering wheel, full center console w/ashtray, intermittent wiper setting, electric remote hatch release, dead pedal, aluminum "waffle" wheels and exterior body moulding. Sunroofs were only available on GS models too, but not all GS cars had sunroofs.

The differences you are noting are not trim level differences, but rather production based changes. Mazda began export production in March of 78 and continued thru Jun of 79 before beginning 1980 production. During those 15 months they made several running modifications to the cars, including the ones you are experiencing. P/N's are in the parts fisch, you can find on the Foxed site.

Here is a page, but I doubt P/N's will help you much as most of this has been long out of production. That A/C **** is an early type used on cars with S/N's before 540387. It's called the "always on" type as later ones have a push button on/off in its center. Same with the blower *****, the long ones are early types, the ones with the white lines are later versions. You need to look for cars being parted out that are early builds, ones built in 78. By January of 79 most of the changes were already implemented.

You can also try other model Mazda cars from the same time period or earlier so see if you can find the *****.

The link in that forum doesn't work. Is it still out there somewhere else?

I have a March 1978 build date 1979 GS (No AC or sunroof). I can see if I can design and 3D print those based on my car.
