It's clearly posted in the Main page above the Classifieds section.

Classifieds

*Non-Vendors are required to have at least 10 posts to start any Classifieds thread(s) or to reply to an existing thread looking to buy/sell parts or a vehicle.*

I've worked it out. You need to have started 10 threads and then you are deemed as real so can post in the for sale section.

Not 10 posts it's 10 thread starts. Or it was for me

I can understand why it's done on this forum but it also fills the site full of pointless posts.

^nope, it's 10 legitimate posts. regardless if u start them or reply to one.

and pointless/useless posts get deleted, along with random questions just to increase post count, bringing post counts back down.

You are already trying to question the Stature of the rules when they have already been Posted and also explained to you.
This should be a tip on why they were implemented.
Since the site is occupied by about 100 thousand members it doesn't need Rogue new registrants trying to use the Site for what it is not intended to be used for.It is for ALL To use,not one guy who wants to use it for ONE thing.
It is a Community Car forum and MEMBERS get to use the Site to bond, talk within the community and if they need to,sell or buy..ALL WITHIN the Community.
This I stress is a BONUS of being a Member of this Community as the site was created mainly to post Technical info..then later it added the Classifieds.
BUT with all things, people like to take advantage and then Stretch the limits. This is why we regulate entry and also limit how much you can sell.
It is not for "outsiders" to Pop in dump their stuff or purchase a car. After all there is other Selling sites that offer that luxury and they do not offer Car advice.
If the Site was created for that then All the Car TECH info would have been unavailable..But you'd get a great deal on a used lawnmower or be able to rent a room in Soho.

YES..you "tried to post"..useless,Repetitive,commonly asked questions to UP your post count and fill the Section with Posts that could have been easily answered.Since the Sections are "weeded" to take out Multiple or Often asked questions they get Deleted.
People do not need to read 20 threads on the Exact same subject,so it is erased and it makes the search easier.
Think about it..Do you need to read "I use Castrol GTX" 20 times..over and over again, in order to suggest to you that you CAN use that brand of oil in your car?..(wouldn't that sort of Irk your cookies?)

We have a fine Forum and a great group of Members here and it is easy to navigate the site when there is less Garbage to sift through.

So,Absolutely no offense intended, if you feel that the reins are too tight for your comfort then I welcome you to find another Venue that has the #1 recommended site to find RX related info.
Because really, you can find a RX7 for sale..if you look ..on Craigslist.
But you won't find tech info on that site will you??

Get Ten...the gates open up..the Rotary GODS await you!
The good thing is that you can do this all without blowing yourself up or being promised 20 virgins!..or is it 40?..(I can't remember..I'm not really Religious.I like cars.).

That itself raises the Important Question of the day:
How can you enjoy 20 virgins if you are in blown into Pieces???...THAT is Something that you can ponder and say that you got introduced to that thought by Registering on this Forum..lol!

Cheers!..now go forth and don't hit nuthin'..!

Thanks for explaining the rules about posts. I too am contemplating placing a for sale ad for my 88 RX7. I checked, and since I joined this forum, I've only posted 5 times. I don't post much because, while I love my car, I'm not a car guy. When I've had issues, I'd check this forum and try to find threads that addressed my issue. But the tech talk invariably soared way over my head, so I ultimately gave up.

I realize I can offer my RX7 in the newspaper, etc. But I figured this forum would attract knowledgeable members who would be straight with me. So here's a question; if this forum is off limits to me, where might I turn? There's a number of websites that buy 'classic' cars, but I suspect they're cherry picking. Your thoughts?

The forum is not Off limits to you..you are just limiting yourself from actually using it.
If you read some threads and participate in commenting on the content then your post count will accumulate easily.
Not saying anything gets you no where.

Things like "hey..can I use 16 inch wheels on an FB?" , "will these seats fit?".can generate tons of replies and then you are set to start your journey in the Classifieds.
The reason that you need 10 posts is YES we do not like "fly by night, pop on and sell" kind of registration for the Forum.
We treat the Forum as a Community and feel that as a Community you should stick around, have fun in it and watch it grow..not jump in,**** in the fountain and drive across Mr. Mobley's lawn!
Good luck to ya!
