How many posts to unlock all sections of the forum?
Whad is ya?? Anti-social or something?
Look for the Introduce yourself threads with the ID emoticon or "Idaho" in the thread title and reach out! You might get some new wrench buddies out of the deal and those are legitimate posts as long as they aren't of the variety already mentioned in this thread.

11 posts so I reckon it shouldn't be a problem....but to the point I was trying to make about NOT wanting people joining just ot buy or sell here and why the post requirement was set up, here's yet another sad tale about a careless mistake that led to yet another burn...another burn done by a New Member.
So I don't think that anyone complaining about this set-up now has the moral grounds to still belly-ache about their inconvenience. Because this is the second time PM's have led to loss of monies, I need to stress this strongly.
If you create an ad, DO NOT tell the people to just call, text or PM you "because I'm not on the forum a whole lot." I am now going to be directing the moderation staff to post in the thread that all potential buyers and the seller must communicate in the thread. If the seller/buyer has a cow over his thread being "corrected", we will delete the ad. Keep the transactions in the thread to CYA, folks! It's true, that in the FAQ page, there is this:
Just don't do it that way. If you respond to ads, keep all aspects of the deal in the thread. Go to the PM's when it becomes a matter of trading personal info - that part you do not want to post in the thread.
Hopefully, some of you are listening. It pains me to see another victim. It almost makes me want to jack the post requirements up across the board.

PM conversation that just concluded yesterday:
ONE YEAR MEMBER: So I put a wtb add for a (part) on the 2nd Gen parts wanted forum. (Loser New Member) sent me a pm on 12/10/12 saying he had one for $75. I sent money on 12/12 and have not received part yet. I've sent multiple pm's with no reply. Am I at a loss? What can I do?
CatDaddyPaterFamilius: Please tell me that this didn't all happen just in the PM's. We cannot pull PM's and we do not trust or build cases on what people send us as the PM...it can be changed and we wouldn't know it. The thread itself cannot be changed by any regular member so that is what we use to build cases and pursue money cases.
If it was done outside of that thread, you're going to have to contact rx7roller02, who can act outside of this website....and even then, if it was done just by PM's and cellphones, he may be hesitant unless that member has a track record.
How did the sale go down?
ONE YEAR MEMBER: Unfortunately, he replied to my ad in a pm. He never posted in my thread. I understand what your saying. I also later seen that his join date was a few days before the purchase. And only had 6 posts. But it doesnt show that on the mobile theme. So I guess ill just take the loss. Thanks for the info.

RX7Club.com has no obligation to help you arbitrate an issue or dispute with someone selling items via the Classifieds section. If you have problems, it will be up to you to work them out with the seller.
...but we still try to help when we can...when it's PM's, cellphones, texting or meeting in person, it makes the job massively more difficult than you can believe.Just don't do it that way. If you respond to ads, keep all aspects of the deal in the thread. Go to the PM's when it becomes a matter of trading personal info - that part you do not want to post in the thread.

Thanks for the info! I never needed to post before, but then I tried to view the classifieds also. Lol! Anyways, guess its time to stop being antisocial. It's just that there is so many questions already answered. Almost too much. Sometimes it's difficult to find the answer amidst all the posts. This is by far the best forum I have been on though. You guys do an awesome job moderating! Wish I could say the same for rx8club! Baha there is so much b.s. posted about rotaries on that site. Although there is much useful Information too, but You guys know how to clean up! I'm glad I came here first to learn about my FC
I'm going to post this here so that hopefully it will make more sense to you guys.
My name is Jon. Some people have jokingly called me the Sheriff around here. In truth, if you try to buy or sell on this forum and you get scammed, I am the person you will want to contact. This is not to take anything away from the other moderators, we have a very solid bunch of mods in here now. But dealing with scams are, I guess you could say, my specialty.
The changes that have been made have been done in an effort to better protect the members here. Once upon a time, a person needed 5 posts to access the classified sections. Five posts is nothing that a scammer could not pull off while still remaining anonymous. When you have to make more posts, people get more familiar with you, and you with them. not to mention, if you own a 7, there is no better place on the planet for tech help. If you do not own a 7, then it shouldnt bother you that you cannot sell or buy parts here without posting, because you have no need for RX7 parts.
Look guys, those of you that are new do not know what this place has seen and been through. You are very fortunate--Mar and company have done more for this forum than anyone has done in the last decade. Thats a fact. So rather than complaining to him, please understand, no one is asking you to do anything crazy. Spend a little time, make some posts, get some new info about our cars and meet some people who can seriously help you with anything you could ever need to know about your car. That is the "downside" that people are complaining about in this thread! Really??
You guys do not know the efforts that Mar has put into this place. And we are volunteers, we do not get paid to moderate this forum. We all have families, and jobs, and cars and hobbies of our own that we still would like to get to. I see nothing wrong in asking you to be considerate of that. This forum used to be a real community some years ago, where people could be relied upon to help each other. Those days have largely passed by, but believe me when I tell you, there are still a lot of good people here that are willing to help. If I have anything to say about this forum, it's going back to the way it used to be.
One more thing--if any of you have come here with ideas on scamming others, youre going to wish you never set eyes on this forum. That isnt a threat, but a promise. One of our more persistent scammers from the last ten years is currently on the run from three states worth of law enforcement thanks in part to my efforts to keep up on his scamming, both in here and on other forums online. My job here among others is to work to keep buying and selling safe on this site. Believe me when I tell you, things do not turn out very well for scammers on this forum. Rather than complain about the things being done to protect you, I hope that you will be happy that this forum takes the time and effort to try to protect our members. Most places do not bother. We do.
Enjoy this forum and its resources--there is a ton of help here for you. If anyone has questions about buying or selling here, feel free to use the PM function. Thanks.

Although I am a newby to the club, I have owned rotories for 18 years and can't believe I had not come across this website until recently. As for the security and post requirements needed to use the site, I believe it is in the best interests of all users. The masters are doing a great job, keep up the good work. Much appreciated.
