Wideband Kit?

Hello,
I have a Haltech e8 and I was wondering on a Wideband Kit do I have to use a Haltech Wideband Kit or can I use a AEM GAUGE TYPE 6-IN-1 wideband.

Thanks

There are a lot of different preferences out there...... mine is the PLX stuff. It's supper simple and dead reliable.

Yes you can use the aem wideband, I am using that same wideband with my e11. Easy install too, white wire from gauge plug to spare a/d #2 on haltech, configure spare a/d #2 for wideband and enter in voltage to afr values that are suplied with the gauge.

Note... the voltage values that are supplied with the kit seem to be a little off. My haltech seems to reed .4 higher than the gauge does throughout. At least on mine anyway. I have not bothered to go through and adjust them yet but I am sure it could be done with some simple math and a few minutes. Just something to keep in mind.

I am using the aem one with my e8 and it works fine. I am running mine through the o2 sensor wiring and just entered the values in and it seems to work fine.

Just a quick note:

You must have the gauge grounded at the exact same spot as the wideband controller. Otherwise you will see a voltage offset. Its not linear either.

FWIW I use the innovative LC1 and had success with this little unit. Just wish there was a more portable unit out there that was easy to switch between cars....

The AEM wide band kit uses the same ground wire in the loom to ground both sensor and gauge so it is nearly impossible to ground them at different locations. But you make a very good point, and you have me thinking my readings are off due to not haveing the ground from the wideband harness grounded at the same location as the haltech. I will change this tonight and report back.

Thanks for the tip

Oops. I thought you were talking about the indication of the gauge VS the indication of the wideband software but in this case comparing the wideband with the E8 100% its your grounding. You need to ground them to the same location. My E8 and all sensor equipment and wideband including the wideband display is all grounded in the same location. When I grounded the gauge to a different location it reads about the same .4 error.

Very good info calculon, thanks for sharing.

Well I disconected old ground and ran a temp ground wire from the wideband kit to the same bolt on the engine where the haltech is grounded and it did not seem to change anything. The haltech display on my laptop is still about .4 on the high side vs what my wideband gauge is reading. I doubled checked the values I entered and everything looks good.

myrx787, when you enter the values into your haltech do you remember wich ones you used as there are not enough spaces for you to enter all of them in. Thanks
