Right, no way I'll touch vista.

Is dosbox something I need to buy or is it something I can download ?

you can dowload it.

I think claudio had a recent thread that lays out some of the setup things for it.....can't seem to find it though.

Alright guys, I've got myself a laptop with Windows 98 on it. I tried DOSBOX but that thing gave me errors that nobody has been able to fix.

So, I'm going to go the straight and easy DOS way.

Can someone explain to me the following ?

1. Easiest way to access dos (Is it something like F2 on startup)
2. Where should I store my Haltech Software and Maps ?
3. Once I'm in DOS, what do I type in when it says C:\> ?
4. Once I'm wherever that takes me, what do I do next ?

I'm so retarded with these stupid adding machines.

There's a problem, I can't even get that far. When I click the dosbox link on my desktop, I get in error in the dosbox window saying :

Exit to error: SDL:Can't set palette

Any ideas ?

Are you sure the haltech is powering up? Check for power to the ECU.

Any specific wire ? My leading plug fires get sinal, wouldn't that mean that the ecu is getting power ?

Check out the map that was loaded up, the ignition toggle was enabled. So, not sure what's up with my no trailing issue. I also filled up with Ethanol since I think I was out of gas before. Got good pressure, 50 psi.

I loaded up the Ethanol Steve Kan map. Can someone give me a quick run down to setting my TPS ?

Thanks again for all the help guys, I hate to be a pain in the ***.

TPS:

Open TPS calibration page, start calibration. Foot off the gas, click set for min. throttle. Mash the pedal, click set for max throttle. Go to datapages and check that the full range is being used.

Check power to the ignition system, check power to the injectors with the unit on. That's the first place to start. Then make sure your getting cas inputs correctly. Of course I haven't messed with the e6k so I don't know if its got any trigger counts you can read.

My leading works now, just a lose connection

Trailing still doesn't work. It sparks when I turn the key on, but doesn't fire when the engine is turning over.

I have 12V to the injectors with the key on and when cranking.

I also read rpms on the haltech when the engine is turning over.

Anyone have some ideas ?

**** it's humid/hot out

Son bitch

Alright, my injector wiring is screwed it seems.

I've got power, yeah on all wires............ even the grounds.

For some reason, I have power coming from the light blue wire on the haltech side. Which is injector 1.

Do you guys know how I could possibly be getting 12V on that wire ? I mean, it's going straight to the ECU, right ?

Getting 12V on both sides of the injector connector is correct. The trigger side floats then pulls to ground to open the injector. So seeing positive voltage on it at rest is OK.

You need to confirm your tooth offset or the timing will be way off. Stab the CAS the way Mazda tells you to do it then set the offset to 11. Just line up the dimple on the gear with the body and drop it in. Remove the cover on top to watch to make sure it doesn't spin on you. I have no idea why anyone complicates things by trying to stab the CAS another way and then changing the offset.

So, having 12V on injector one wire (Light Blue Wire) is okay ? The Light Blue Wire (inj1) is the only wire out of the inj wires with 12V, besides the main 12v Wire (Red/Green).

I thought inj1, inj2, inj3, inj4 should all be ground and the only power wire should be the Red/Green wire which supplies 12V to all injectors ?

Please let me know about the injectors, or confirm what I've said. This is upsetting.

.............................

I'll check the CAS, and re-stab. But, that won't cause the injector problem would it ?

The injector acts like a resistor, so it will have voltage all the way to the ecu where it is switched...

Have you used a noid light yet?

You oughtta go on aim and Claudio could probably talk you through it...
He got my car started and running in like 15 mins.
