S4 alternator back plug with haltech swap?

The wire going from the back of the ALT to the ECU is gone with my old harness.
Is the backplug&WIRE needed for the alternator to work and charge the battery?

If it is needed, how do I wire it?

hummmm k your right. The problem is that my car was a S4 N/A.
What is the real use of the alternator back switch? Is it used to regulate or to turn ON the alternator or its only for the idiot light?

One of the wires (B/W) is the voltage sense wire for the regulator, the other (W/B) is for the idiot light.

You'll need to wire the sense pin (Black/white wire) to a switched ignition source. You can use the same source as the haltech.
