so whenever i try to run the haltech it says the com port is being used by another application? ways around this? ive tryd everything

 

Are you running a com-->usb adaptor?

 

ya my friends haltech e8 has the 9 pin plug and i bought the adapter to go to my laptop since his is real slow and old, also i have vista if that matters but i also put it on my g/fs dell w/xp and it does the same thing with hers?
