Problem w/ aftermarket tach on E6X

I have problem with my Auto Meter tachometer. It works fine and reads very accurately compared to the engine data page until 6000 rpm. At 6000 rpm the rpm readings on the tach drop to zero but the haltech software is still reading rpms and the car is still running. And pulling hard! I just dont understand why the rpms are dropping off. I have the tach set up for 2 pulse per revolution, and the signal wire is connected to the trigger signal wire on the leading coil. Any ideas?

Hey, lower the gain to zero, ( 0 ), the haltech E6X has a very sensitive trigger circuit, so a gain of zero is sometimes best.

Ok, I tried changing my gain. With no evail. The rpms still drop to 0 after i hit 6000 rpm no matter where the gain is set.
