PLX OBD2 Gauge

Has anyone tried a non-race cluster OBD2 device to get the sensor readings from a Haltech Platinum? It would be nice to run something like the PLX gauge to get sensor readings instead of getting an ugly race cluster for a street car.

It won't work. To communicate the device needs to read the protocol. Haltech uses the AIM Sport protocol. Any of the OE scan tools are only going to look for OE protocols.

Buddy of mine has done some preliminary work on communicating with the ECU over the CAN network and building his own display and datalogger. The logger is most intriguing to me. Relatively inexpensive and unlimited capacity for channels and data volume.

Do you know when your buddy will have something ready or what will it look like? I just want something I can get simple readings from like water, air temperature, oil temp, etc. like the commander or the Microtech hand controller instead of having gauges.

Nope. He's hot and cold with the project. I actually just spoke with him and am hopeful he will pick it back up. He's got a semi-working prototype with an LCD display.

This!

I am tired of running multi gauges. Ideally, I would something small that warns/alerts as needed; but something small like 6X6 gauge or something similar to the PLX gauge.
