people with ls1 coils

i've searched and read through a couple threads, but i couldn't find a definitive answer as to what spark plug wires i need when using 4 ls1 coils. i'll be mounting the ls1 coils in the stock location underneath the TB.

i found this thread where someone mentioned using plug wires out of an 97-98 suburban and coincidentally 4 of them are about the right length/angles for this setup, but he never followed up his post, so i'm not sure about that. and he has his coils mounted in the cruise control area, so they're much longer than mine need to be. https://www.rx7club.com/haltech-forum-62/spark-plug-wires-ls1-coils-695577/

what spark plug wires are you using? i'd hate to have to spend 100 bucks on 4 spark plug wires that i could possibly find at autozone!

dude go to a harley dealer and ask for part number Y0204.K part number possibly superseded with 31981-99C

This is the OEM buell/harley sportster plug wire for the rear, its about 18in or so and has the correct ends (both ends are correct).

are you ready for this under 5 dollars at my dealer, so 4 out the door for under 20.

edit: http://www.latus-harley-davidson.com...CABLE-REAR.htm $2.40

No, but they where mounted to the inside of the strut tower, I'm not sure you would have room to mount them there.

I still have them assembled I will see if I can take a pic when I get home that way you can see how I put them together.

It will take you more than a day to install an E8 if you have never done it before.

But wiring the coils is easy. you basically have a common ground and common B+, and then 3 or 4 signal wires. For the signal wires it IS NOT NESCISARY to use sheilded wire.

Shielded wire is not required on low voltage outputs.

How are you going to control the twin turbo's?

Single?

I would HIGHLY recommend that you poor mans NS the turbo's until you get the engine tuned. You DO NOT want to be ******* with a custom system to run the twins and tuning at the same time.

And only a very slight retuning would be necessary to get the engine completely tuned once the sequential is back operating.

1. yeah i've done 2 e6k's and an e6x, but they've been batch fire /staged, and wastespark setups.

2. turbos are fully non-sequential, so no problems there. and the tuning should be nothing new.

3. i'll also be using an lm-1 wideband (bosch sensor) with the 0-5v signal out going to the e8. i'm planning on trying out the auto tune for vacuum to see how well it works

also, that harley part number isnt going to work for me. our local dealer doesn't stock it and the nearest dealer that does is an hour away (and they only have 3). i'm gonna hit up autozone and go through some 5.7 chevy plug wire sets to see what i can come up with. if there's one thing parts stores are good for it's lots of plug wires.

Thats not the only one that would work, any of the 90 and up harley wires will have the right ends, and harley parts are dirt cheap.

What I would do is go in and tell them you want 4 plug wires about X length. They will have something there that fits if they are willing to look for you.

I could shoot you a basemap,

I have a kind of re-rew hybrid going, but its more like REW than anything (REW trigger on the pully etc) with stock FD twins.

Tell me what injectors you plan to run.

stock 550 primary injectors, stock 850 secondaries, stock fuel pump, stock fuel pressure.
fully non-sequential, stock IC.

only problem with going to the harley dealer is i'd have to have an ls1 coil up there to make sure that one end is the right size (which i don't, my coils havent arrived yet)
i'm just gonna go up to autozone and see what i can come up with.

ok i ended up getting a set of 98 suburban spark plug wires (like the guy did in the linked thread above)
of the shortest 4 wires, 2 are about 18" long, and 2 are about 20" long, so i think these will work fine.

you can buy the Taylor LS1 terminals and boots from summit or Jegs

the part numbers should be

64052 for the straight ones... you will get 10 terminals and 10 boots
64067 for the 90's.. you will get 10 terminals and 10 boots
64066 is 5 90's and 5 straight ones

http://www.taylorvertex.com/Products...rcatalog20.pdf

you can then crimp these on to any 8mm plug wires you like. I used the 10.4 mm wires, which made it difficult to slip the boot on but it worked out

I am the one that posted on the Suburban wires.
Sorry to chime in so late but I didn't even notice this thread.

I asked the OP if he wanted me to post the picture but he didn't reply, so I figured he didn't want to go that route anyways...

I was going to give you the length of the wires but you've already purchased them. :P

Just let me know if you want me to post the pic.

LS1 coils

I used MSD universal plugs. 8mm. You have to crimp the ends that attach to the coils.

Should be to bad. My is working pretty good.

yeah sure if you could post a pic that would be cool.

i'm still going to try to mount my coils in the stock location (under the TB), but if i have to, i'll mount them on the shock tower or elsewhere. i have a couple more options after buying this suburban plug wire kit.

no pics, but that works too.

method 3, is the one i used, i bought the gm coil bracket ($18), and then the coils bolt to that, and then the bracket can go on the frame rail, or top of the motor or where ever
