new starting problem

last month I had some buyers come by to check out my roller before I take out the goodies. so I start it up to show them the engine is good. let it idle for a couple minutes then turn it off. later that night I decide to go out and the car wont start. i chalk it up to not having a tune and it's below freezing out at this point.

fast forward to today it finally gets back up to the 40s outside so I decide to move the car.

when you start a car it makes that familiar sound like how I imagine and old robot coughing. now instead of this sound it just goes pop pop pop like a plunger. I dig out the laptop and all seems well on the engine data screen. in 15 second intervals I crank and rest until the battery is about to give out on me. the funny thing is I couldn't smell fuel and I figure it would have flooded the chamber by now.

haltech problem or something else?

if it was flooded I would smell fuel right? the injectors are jspec and I had them cleaned.

what bothers me the most is how it sounds.

Change the plugs itll start right up.

Your cold start must be alittle rich hence when you started it and then switched it off without clearing it out plugs are fouled. Change them. Itll start right up. Im sure of it. Make sure your battery is charged too.

so i went out and it took a damn long time in 33 degree weather with only a crescent wrench, but I got the plugs out. jumped the starter and nothing came out. so I cleaned up some used plugs and slapped them in and nothing... still sounds odd. so I tried using starter fluid and didn't work either.

guess at this point it's time to tow it down to the garage and do a compression test.

thats interesting.

Are your fuel pumps working? Is their fuel pressure on crank, Ecu staying on during crank?

yeah pump primes. old plugs were wet. computer stays on the whole time. I had the laptop hooked up last time to verify everything. sees trailing spark since the RPMs on the dash and screen worked.

it just sounds so quiet. i had this same exhaust on my last t2 and when I detonated I drove 9 miles home on one rotor. when I tried to start it the next day (didn't) it didn't sound this bad. maybe I can get an audio clip. at this point I'm not thinking it's the haltech.
