map sensor?

im new to the tuning world and i have question about the three bar map sensor. i hooked up the hose on the bottom port alternator side where im reading vacuum. i wasnt reading vacuum before from a different port. my question is its reading 58"hg on haltech at idle. is this normal for haltechs or is there something wrong with it?

Most people in the states set the program mode to imperial rather than metric. Just to make things easy, but a rough conversion shows that -53 kpa at idle is about right.
