Ls1 Ignition Coils Wiring Up

How Many Of You Have Put The Ls1 Coils On Your Rx With A Haltech? I Have A Set Of Four And Am Gonna Put Them Into My Fc With A 13b-re. I Have A E-6x And Few More Mods. Are The Ls1 Coils Even Worth It? Thanks

I just installed a set on an NA 13B powered Datsun 510. It's not like they're being worked hard by an NA mill but they do work. The jury is kind of out on them. Some say they're God's gift. Some of the guys on the EFI101 forum say they're junk. Do a search. There is some opinions already posted on this site. Common theory is that they like a long charge time. On the order of 5+mS. That's fine for a boinger running coil on plug sequential spark at <7000rpm. But when you gang them in wastespark for leading on a rotary at 7000rpm you're down to around 4mS of charge time available.

As for wiring and setup, here's what ya need.

L1 & L2 ganged in parallel on IGN #1 LG wire
T1 IGN #2 W/B
T2 IGN #3 L

Set ignition type to Direct Fire instead of Distributor as you would use on stock coils. Do NOT set the Aux Out to ignition toggle.

Ludwig's answer is dead on, if you want more info on the LS1's go to EFI's Haltech forum section, ive got a thread going on there thats filled with good info from a few people. From what ive read and talked about them, the LS1 coils are pretty good for moderate results (moderate being 400-500HP on a rotary. If you are planning on going beyond that number then you should have a good CDI system with powerful coils.

Dont forget to use the settings Ludwig mentioned to run them.
