Looking for info: ps1000 plug and play patch harness for S5 FC

I've got a S5 TII thats currently stock, but I'm looking into adding a PS1000 so I can safely apply upgrades without blowing the engine. The plug and play patch harness for the S5 FC listed on haltech's website interests me as a way to approach things as an incremental process.

I'm looking for additional info on the patch harness, as Haltech lists it as an option, but doesn't provide any specs, and my google searches are not coming up with any info either. Does any have any experience with it? Is it truly plug and play, or does it require some sensors be swapped to GM alternatives for example? Does it have provisions to add a wideband? Are their any limitations, things that the stock ECU controls but the patch harness wont, or things specific to TIIs? Anyone have pictures of the actual S5 patch harness product? (haltech seems to only show a stock photo of one of their patch harness options) Anything else I should know?

Thanks

The whole point of a Plug & Play Patch Harness is that it plugs into your existing harness, instead of having to pull the Emission Harness out, fish the Flying Lead Harness (for the Haltech) through the firewall, then cut, crimp and loom. All of your existing sensors will work fine thanks to the generous supply of sensor calibration files included with ECU Manager.

C. Ludwig would definitely do a fantastic job, but I think that spending the extra $100 or so on a Flying Lead and then sending it to him defeats the purpose of a patch harness. He could definitely build it from scratch in less time and for less money than trying to extract the fuses, relays & other associated bulk from a FL, then add the appropriate connectors for your application.

A wideband isn't too complicated to add, and wouldn't require any more effort on a patch harness. For example, my Innovate LC-1 uses 3 wires for its sensor: 12v power, Ground and Signal. It also has power and ground for the sensor heater, but I have those merged together with the Power & Ground for the sensor (dedicated 12v ignition-switched source feeds both). However, the Air/Fuel gauge for the wideband is another story. The way I approached it for my 20B FC was with a Haltech ECU patch harness (Banzai Racing offers them) and splicing into the appropriate signal wire, running that off to a separate connector to feed gauges with the same information the ECU is receiving. This kind of modification takes maybe 15 minutes.

While the LC-1 has two separate outputs (in case you need to simulate a narrowband signal on a stock ECU), the benefit to this approach is that one only needs to run two wires (Ignition-Switched Power & Ground) to sources nearby under the hood, instead of trying to fish the second signal wire through the firewall and keep it tidy.

If you go this route, it might be a good idea to tee off the other pertinent sensor wires such as Coolant Temperature. There are a number of gauges available that can be calibrated to read from any available sensor such as ours. Air & Coolant Temperature are both resistance-based (changes resistance with temperature), while the TPS, MAP & Wideband O2 are voltage-based (voltage changes with throttle/pressure/AFR Ratio).
