I need later vers than 6.34 Dos software!
I booted up my haltech and tried to connect to my laptop but it gave me a software error telling me I need a later version to match my haltech. I have version 6.34 can anyone help me out?
When and where did you buy your Haltech? Which ECU is it, and what is the S/N#? Version 6.34 is the latest software for the E6K, which is what I'm assuming you're using.
Give me the S/N and firmware revision, and I'll find out for sure for you when Haltech re-opens after the holidays.

It starts to connect and says
System Series Number : 8 Firmware version : 14
then it says
Reconnect haltech
On the back of my haltech it says e6k 2891 which I would assume is the s/n

6.34 is the latest E6K software. I can ask a couple people around my town and see if anyone else has run into this.
Hopefully I can get an answer for you tomorrow so you do not have to wait a week to try and get your car going.

i had this problem but it was fixed in offline mode by selecting the corect COM port. for some reason it changed in my laptop without me doing anything to it...
i must have while doing something else without realizing it.
it would give the green status bar...but would not move and would just say *reconect haltech*
go into my computer, system, device manager and double check you serial port address. then go in to haltech offline and select the correct com port and try it.

rxrotary that sounds like my problem, my only other problem is that I can't read a damn word in the haltech program on my laptop, its all scrambled. Gonna have to bring the desktop out to the garage
sounds like a problem with the laptop. I have used the older software on my newer E6K and the reverse. the software works but some functions are not available depending on the firmware of the E6K. try a long cord to garage or borrow another laptop. older the better on the OS also. win95 works fine but have had problems with win98 and newer OS's(even in DOS mode). if in LA area I have spare E6K and laptop if you need help troubleshooting.
i dont think it will work with XP. i think XP runs DOS simulator??? and is the reason nothing higher than 98 will work.
i always have to restart my laptop in dos mode in order for it to work correctly. from the C prompt i type
cd\haltech to change the directory
then type e6k\e6k.exe and it starts fine with no problem. i am running WIN 98.

You can boot your laptop in DOS by using a Windows startup floppy. Use a Windows PC to make a startup disk, which is what you'll use to boot the laptop. Then, once you have the DOS prompt, you should be able to run the Haltech software either off another floppy, or directly off the HD.

Yeah, 8.14 is the latest officially released firmware and 6.34 is the latest officially released software. There are later versions of both, but they aren't supported, and I don't think they'll officially release it considering they're working so hard on the E11 now that they'll probably try to obsolete the E6K's.
Suds, you want to install 98? And all you need is the boot disk? I know ive found that disk just by searching yahoo for "Windows 98 Boot Disk"
Ive got a feeling im going to have to downgrade to 98 from my XP Pro.
Has anyone had success running a dual boot xp/98?
