I have used it with Vista and an IOGEAR usb/serial. It worked ok but had connection problems sometimes. I will be trying Vista with the Keyspan unit this week so I can keep you posted on whether I have troubles or not.

Tried my laptop running Vista and the Keyspan connector I am having some problems with the ecu asking for a password which was not there before it was worked on. I tried updating to the old map but it again asked for password. I am trying to run the Windows software not the DOS.

I hate using my old laptop for tuning so this is somewhat of a problem for me not having one that works. Has anyone tried a PCMIA to serial port card with the E6X software and Vista? Otherwise I may try buying a Belkin unit.

Stay away from the Belkin units, they seldom work, you must be luck or something!

The PCMCIA cards work well, its literally installing a serial port on your machine, so it works.

Keyspan is the adapter of choice, but given the fact that you have Vista i dont know if they have appropriate drivers for that OS. I pretty much stay away from Vista altogether, it really is a disappointing OS, i hope MS comes out with a new service pack for XP Pro, cause i dont think i want to have a machine with Vista, may switch to linux instead, its probably less painful...

So, the point is, one thing to consider on your programs asking for a password is that there is probably a little bit of confusion with your current comm port settings, so, make sure that you have the following settings selected in both the program comport setup as well as the laptop's hardware (Note: if you're still experiencing problems after setting this up like that try setting the speed to 57600 or 9600):

There's a thread around here about "what ECU is best for me" you should get some insight there... but it depends on your budget and features needed.
