Haltech Fans staying on w/ *No* ECU??? Harness problem?
Fans staying on w/ *No* ECU??? Harness problem?
hey all... ok, quick one for some of the guru's... my mechanic is finishing up my fuel system upgrade on my FD, and today while buttoning some of it up and kicking over for the first time he ran into a weird problem... when he connects the battery the fans come on and just run constantly, ran for over 20 minutes before he had to disconnect the battery again, scratching his head... this is happening even w/ the Haltech disconnected from the harness, and he's never seen it happen before... definite reoadblock for me getting back into my FD for the weekend! my FD used to be an automatic, and was converted a few years ago w/out issue... could this be causing the problem somehow? he is clueless and trying to trace back through the harness but isn't seeing anything unusual at all... any tips would be greatly appreciated, i really wanna cruise this weekend!!! thx guys..
ive noticed in my fd that if i pulled the ecu with batt still connected the fans would run...did u connect the fan wire to the haltec controll wire?...i think u might get more help in haltec section..if its alredy there my b i havent made it down there yet...
There is a ground inside the factory computer that leaves one of the fan relays open and the fans run on medium level. My suggestion is if you have a haltec is to wire the fans with one relay or you will spend countless hours trying to figure it out. Cut off all thew factory crap buy one relay rund your own wire and leave it at that , simple and effective.
