Talking Elite 1500 with Flying Lead or IGN-1A Ignition Terminated Harness Kit?

So I have a about $4000 to play with and I am trying to pick the best to work with.

More or less TII setup, street ported, built by Pineapple with a late 90's early 00's Haltech and installed by CorkSport. The first engine build had around 450hp 400-ish to the ground, but it popped... Pineapple replaced the motor, and this has actually happed again... This is the 3rd block from Pineapple. They found the reason why the first two popped because of a pinched fuel line, and running premix they think that is why the first two did not make it. All of that happened with the car about 15-20 years ago. The guy who was having the car built back then got gun shy, and it sat till he passed way a few years ago, wife sold it to a buddy, and buddy sold it to me. Buddy said this engine has less then 600 miles on it so its still in a setup/break-in tune and boost only gets to about 6-8lbs. I have no way to interact with the ol Haltech, and my buddy said just "toss out" the 20 year old bit of kit and get something new 1st thing will save a lot of time... so its all currently in a beat up ugly 85 GLS-SE, but I am swapping it all into a nice clean 82'.

I am just not sure what I am doing with EFI yet. Not really sure what I am looking at in these two kits, or what one would be "best". I have been all carb and FB's my whole life so this is a big jump for me!

Thanks for any help!.

are you running ign-1a coils? the choice boils down to what coils you plan to run. I run ign-1a coils and recommend them for high horsepower and ethanol applications.

Doing all this EFI stuff is new so I am kind of fumbling around in the dark as to what would be best. I have not really picked, and thats why I am asking the question... what would be good? I am really only looking at 400hp street wise to not push anything to hard because in a FB I think that will be more then enough to be street able and fun. I would also call 400hp "high horsepower" for a car that came with 100hp. lol

What I am really looking at is kind of a nice plug and play the best I can.

for best performing on ignition harness side, id recommend a relay style ignition harness so the coils get direct bat voltage instead of feeding it through the ecu fuse box relays.
make sure fuel system is 100%, if you go with smart coils you will be good with any pre made harness, if you go with "dumb" coils, you will need an igniter box inline. "just incase you weren't aware"

if you still wanted the haltech ign. harness,
I have a IGN-1A Ignition Terminated Harness that i havent posted for sale yet, used it for my base map, and upgraded to relay style harness.

plug and play with a haltech is not exactly going to happen. but the terminated harness with ign coils will get you close. if it were me i would do a haltech premium harness, loom and terminate it myself with some ls coils which will work very well at your power levels and can be easily had for a pittance. honestly if you are not comfortable terminating a harness i would elicit some local help to put you over the finish line. a good friend of mine put down 350 whp with an elite 750 and ls coils at 14psi on pump no AI.

Our harness package is true plug and play, unlike the Haltech terminated harness, and fits your budget. PM for details.
