E8 road speed?

Could anyone tell me what sensor I need for Haltech to display my road speed?
I cheaped out and bought a display only IQ3 dash which doesn't have the GPS function.
If someone could help me out, I'd appreciate it

If you have an ABS equipped vehicle and your not using ABS you can use the stock sensor and tone ring. Or an S3 sensor and magnet on the drive shaft.

I'll look into the S3 sensor for the driveshaft.
I also found a guy who sells auto-meter type mechanical to electronic sensors that he custom makes so it will thread into the FC transmission.
speedometersolutions.com I think is the site.

If you still have the factory isntrument cluster, can't you hook up the haltech road speed input to the factory speed sensor wire?

IIRC the factory speedo is cable driven via the transmission. But that cable is long gone and my dash is now an IQ3

The speedo cable goes to the instrument cluster and there is a sensor in the cluster that outputs an electrical signal. But you don't have the cluster anymore so oh well....................

Great idea. I looked at this today and, unfortunately, it's not a direct swap. The aluminum housing will swap but the drive gear is of different diameter. The FD has a larger gear. The FD gear is retained by a snap ring, the FC gear appears to be a press fit. May try to swap gears around if I find some extra time.

Decided to buy one from speedometer solutions. The guy has a direct plug in sensor that will let me plug directly in to the Haltech. Was $98 so not to bad
