E6X for FC?

I just picked up an 87 TII and it came with a Haltech e6x, it isn't hooked up yet though.

I have heard some bad things about the E6X, what exactly are the problems people encounter when using it on an FC? Is anyone here using one?

the only major issue with the E6X is the triggering. Apparently they used a sub-standard reluctor. Seems to work on some cars, and not on others.

buy the ra10 reluctor adapter and run it in hall effect mode and you're good to go.

Its all about setting up the trigger gain and filter levels right, i have not had one single E6X that didnt want to work after the correct settings where selected. They all work perfectly. In the beginning people set them up like E6K's and it was clear after some time passed that the settings had to be different due to the different reluctor hardware, but it works and works great once its dialed in right.

The worst thing that could happen is that the trigger is so noisy even with gain set to zero and filter to 2 you wont get a clean signal, but that is VERY unlikely.

My E6X works great... however if you can afford to upgrade to an E8, it can do a lot more
