E6K-Hall Sensor-Timing Lock?

So I just got my Hall Sensor working on my E6K.
Do you have to lock the timing just like you would a CAS?
Everytime I put the Timing Lock on, it dies.
Any advise would be appreciated!

Yes, you need to lock the timing to confirm the synch. What value are you locking it at? Since you have the RB style pulley try locking it at 10* BTDC. That should allow the engine to idle well and you'll then be able to rev it to look for timing drift.

I have always locked it at zero.
So are there two sets of numbers?
I have the angle set at around 70 I believe. When I turn the timing lock on, it comes up with another variable to plug in.
Is setting the timing at 10* better than setting it at 0*?

Got it!
Was trying to make it harder than it is!
Have the angle at 48 and it is locked on zero.

You can use any lock number. But whatever lock number you use, that number has to match the pulley. With your RB pulley you have -10, 0, 10, and 20 to choose from. You could lock the timing at any of those values and as long as the timing strobe matches the matching mark on the pulley you're good. With the stock pulley having marks are -5 (FC) and -20(FD) it can be very hard to get the engine to run well enough at those values to check the timing correctly. The engine will certainly be more willing to rev if you have the timing locked at 10* BTDC than it will be at 20 ATDC!

Glad you got it figured out and we finally got you running! Wanna post a pic of the setup installed?

Nice job, Bruce. That looks good!

I don't know why folks don't, either. It might be because it's easy to wire in the CAS and assume that since the ECU has internal reluctors that it'll just work. Interesting that this subject has come up. Bout to write a thread on the internal reluctor here relating to this.

Have to say my car is so fast, I'm almost afraid to drive it!
Boosting 21 PSI and the tires spin when I punch it in 3rd gear! This is in the Summer time too!
I'm hoping to get in the 10's next month at the track. I think it will do it if I can get a decent 60' time with my MT ET Streets.
