CAS Ground? Rpm Jump ? Misfire? Haltec

Ok, not a huge deal, been living with it for years but, time to figure it out.

Since I've can remember I've always had a slight miss down low, my timing light jumps around a bit on L1 but, stays on for T1. Throttle make them both unreadable untill a higher rpm. This is not normal right?

I also have had the odd jump or fluctuation in rpm on my datalogs once in a while that I always atributed to the limitations of the haltec.

Any ideas?

I have seen some talk about the Cas sheilding needing to be grounded--what do I check?

Have you verified that you don't have a bad coil?

Also , you might want to check your plug wires for resistance?

Have you adjusted the filters and gains?

E6k

I just put some fresh plugs in today....it is so bad now that it misses with any kind of real load on it...It was running ok yesterday.
FSM says i need a checker to test coils....
They do fire under light load, i must have a week signal or spark as the wires are not too old.

What do you mean by filters and gains?

Got her running good again.

I traded out the Lead wires for another set off a parts car and put in a different new set of 9's...it ran great.
Go to the store to buy new accel wires that I was running b4 and it ran like crap again, moved wires to different position in the bay as far away from the cas as possible and it ran great again. My only conclusion is that it really matters where you have the wires. When the rpms increase and the wires start working hard they must throw off some interferance to the pickup in the cas??

I need to look into better sheilding for the cas/wires and trigger wire for the coil.

hmm, i have accels i might try this and see if theres a difference. as for the cas wires, ive done some research and found that the cas wires should be away from the alternator to prevent interference. ive also heard of a guy that wrapped his cas wires with bare wire then loomed over it and he said it elminated his problem.

That sounds like a good idea. i think the stock wires had a ground wire wraped around them to begin with.
