I don't know if I really like the E8 so far. I keep having problems with the com chip not communicating with my laptop (same issues with the early E11). on top of that, I couldn't get the trailing coil to fire correctly (2nd gen). It doesn't specifically show you how to configure it so that the toggle would work properly. there're no option for Ign toggle on the aux output. I asked haltech USA a week ago about this since I remembered when the E6X first came out, they misprinted their manual telling you to install ign 3 to the toggle instead of aux out. I finally figure it out myself and told haltech to fix their manual. I also now expericencing lost map when uploading from the ECU.
Not sure if any of this were related to just my laptop of the haltech but we have two E8 and they both react the same way.

Well, im getting an E8 soon, and hopefully will do some work on multiple cars with it, cant wait to get it and play.
Pluto, how is the power on those cars? good fully charged (high cold cranking amp battery), no voltage drops to less than 10 while cranking? usually comm problems are brought on by that, heating is also an issue sometimes. Where are those ECUs located?

wiring cheat sheet is on (i think) the second to last page.
follow that, then flip it to distributor mode in your ignition setup and you're good to go. as far as i know, you don't need to tell it to toggle anymore. it already knows cuz it's all smart like that

Grounding maybe the suspect on the issue. I keep having fouled plugs on the spark plugs and I think it was because of the engine isn't fully ground correctly. Still debugging this car. It's been two weeks on this project and it is driving me nuts. I did find out that the manual is correct, we find that the old trailing ignitor isn't working properly on the toggle causing it to see only the front trailing on it.
As for the comm problem, the voltage is around 11.5V and when it is running, it goes to around 14.5V. I don't think it is voltage related but who knows.
The ECU is located in the stock 2nd gen location, right underneath the carpet.

yea.. I wasn't sure if this is true on the E8 because when the E6X first came out, it tells you to wire ign 3 to toggle and that was a mistake..... I did manage to get the trailing to work properly today after playing around with it somemore. It was a bad ignitor toggle causing it.

i've actually noticed trailing ground problems nore with haltechs than any other ems i've worked with. maybe they're just more sensative...
now, whenever i do any ems, i always connect another ground on the trailing coils. i started doing that a couple years ago when i first had problems with it, and it hasn't reared its ugly head since.
i glanced at the x wiring and it's just like the k, so i kinda skipped a lot with it...
however, i did the same thing the first time i wired up an 8 and fucked myself right up... everything is ALMOST the same, but the red wire in the trigger harness now has power. ummm. my bad took me like 3 hours of sctratching my head over that one. and in the end, i glanced at the wiring diagram.
let us say i now study all wiring diagrams thouroughly and never assume anything anymore.

LOL.... I did the samething on the trigger and it took me a few days to really look into it before I realize it was a power instead of a signal gnd. I thought it was a bad trigger since I see rpm but it wouldn't fire.
