Anyone using the Platinum Sport 1000

I have decided on going with Haltech for my tuning and data needs. Doing some searching I see that most Haltech users have the E6X or E8. Anyone using the Platinum Sport 1000 yet?

I can get a GREAT deal if I buy the EMS, Wideband, and Plug-n-Play harness all at once.

Would just like to get some opinions before I take the plunge!

Thanks,

Andrew

I'm running stock ignition/fuel and bolt-ons right now. But in the future, I will most likely be running LS1 coils.

The PS2K and PS1K are identical in every way, the difference is of course that the 2K has more inputs and outputs than the 1K.

Here's a quick comparo:

PS1K --- PS2K
AVIs 4 --- 7
DPOs 6 --- 6
DPIs 3 --- 3
DSIs 1 --- 1

Also, on a PS2K, if you install it on a 13B for example you will have 2 injector outputs that can be reconfigured as DPO's, and either 2 or 3 ignition outputs that can also be set as DPOs, depending on your ignition system, so on a PS2K you could have as many as 11 DPOs.

On a PS1K, if you use the stock 2nd Gen coils, or wasted spark, you could have 1 output left, making that a total of 7 DPOs.

DPOs, for those of you who are used to the old terminology, are the same as the PWM outputs, as they were called before.

Currently running a Sport 1000 with about every AVI used (WBO2, Oil Press, Oil Temp, 2XEGT's). Love the software but am still waiting on laptop logging. Current logging is through the ecu only and take several minutes to download and view a log (pain in the rear)...

There are Rotary specific ecu's that will be coming out soon as well. My guess is they will be around the price of the new sprint 500 ecu's and have similar options for outputs (less than the Sport 1000).

I was actually hoping haltech would get the knock sensor/software out for the haltech first.

Once they have this. Ill put it all in my rx7 and set it all up. Want to see what the haltech 2 step is like.

The PFC will run four of these. Gives great results.

Depends on if the PFC is meeting your needs for fuel, driveability, and aux function control. If you need to step up to something more powerful in those regards I'd love to sell you a Haltech. But if you're looking for improved spark it doesn't get much better than the Mercury coils. We've had very good results with them.

As you know the pfc runs on 16bit. does not have o2 sensor feedback among with other disabilities that can help you do a fine tuning ...
I dont want to change my harness either so thats what makes me lean towards the haltech

Note that my fd is a 2002 with the 16bit harness

I have yet to see a FD with a good condition harness already in it.
We usually redo the wiring harness from scratch for the FD or buy a New one from mazda. The heat absolutely kills them.

Just noticed yours is a 2002 model. That probably explains it
