I’ll share/update my recent experiences with this kit.

First off the overall quality is excellent. For me it did need a little adjustment to the shroud to make it perfect. After a little filing on the belt sander it fits great. I sprayed my shrouds with SEM trim paint for a little contrast and a more OEM appearance. I might revisit this and get a textured paint and then topcoat it with the SEM. The SEM trim paint color is almost identical to the stock plastic, but the texture isn’t quite right.

I did have the issue with the boot from outside projector hit the stopper arm. At first this bugged me but I just can’t see how any water would get up there to cause a problem so I removed the rubber boots. I considered switching to the newer led lights but I like the idea of having the headlights on the outside and not the high beams personally.
On to some pics...

I don’t have any light output shots right now, something is screwy with my headlight wiring unrelated to this install so I’ll get some updated light shots once I figure that out.

In conclusion I am very happy with these lights. I am planning to do a HID conversion in the very near future. The hid bulbs are sealed which solves my boot issue mentioned earlier. The look of them when open is killer! Nuf said!

Yeah I’d love to buy a set of these if development continues or even in the current design from what I can see. Hope we get a chance to buy a set! They look great!

I just read through this whole thing and what a trip.

really interested in a modern lighting solution for the pop up headlights as my halogens are in poor shape and upgrading would be the preferred option. I would be interested in testing the product or buying outright, hopefully this can move forward and we can get our hands on these.

They look amazing in person so I wonder what issue they are having that is keeping production from going forward,

I know it. So much work and so much interest. I feel like they’d at least want to recoup some of their money for lost time. Maybe they lost their manufacturing connections or something insurmountable. Such a shame as it looked like they were so close.

What a joke

I waited for years on this thread and still nothing. So long that I’ve already lost interest. Most the people on here probably sold their fds already and I’ll probably be selling mine soon also. Lol what a joke

It's just a niche product at this point. Not many FDs around. Would have to charge +++ to actually make sense. That's just my assumption at least.

They will sell off all of their products without an issue once that happens, there are plenty of interest in the world, not just state side, if it's a matter of time, there are other vendors dedicated to RX7 that are more than happy to make this happen. So hoping these guys just move this along or talk to others about joining forces!

Totally get the whole "not many RX7s", "unit costs will be high-ish" in the big picture, but not AFTER you've dedicated years and time/money/effort to do all the development, get it just so, then not monetize it. At this point, you've sunk the cost.

Sleepy eye kit

The kit looks awesome. Just unfortunate, that all that work was done. So, please do not bash on the guy for taking the intiative for buolding a kit and doing the research and leg work, + modifications and fitment before going public with it. None of us know what he might be going through at the moment. So, I ask that everyone on the forum pray for him and his family, that any struggles he might be facing, will clear up soon. We are all RX7 enthusiasts and we should stick together and support one another. I have been waiting a long time gor this kit as well. If it happens, it sill be great. But if not, I am sure there is a good reason for it.

Well, at least my prototype that turned into this almost kit is still running strong. I did upgrade the high beams to LED bulbs so that is pretty cool.
