Yes, yes and yes.

I will be launching a new thread to lay out EVERYTHING about the kit. There will be a nice budget option, a mack daddy top of the line option and a couple options in between. Not trying to get TOO crazy with it, but I know people are gonna ask about details, upgrades and install - so I figured a new, uncluttered thread would be in order.

Awesome news Garage Alpha. Looks like a really nice kit. Much better than my one-off design that started this.

Everything seems absolutely perfect and we're going to try and get a set installed ASAP.

I currently have FIVE sets on hand if there are any guinea pigs in the audience.
I'll see you there & I'm very much looking forward to seeing these in person

Matt,

It was great speaking with you at sevenstock. I appreciate you taking the time to explain the ins and outs of the kit. And like I said, these lights look phenomenal and I was very impressed with the workmanship that went into making these possible.

Btw I'm the guy with the long hair that asked you to elaborate on what exactly was the difficulty in making these kits. I didn't volunteer for the five prototypes because I assume you were indundated with offers but I am patiently waiting for these to be available.

To the forum:
This is the real deal. The kits feel sturdy and look professionally done, probably because they are professionally done lol. You will not be disappointed with these things

Really cool meeting you Matt and putting a face to the name!

I purchased one of the 5 base kits. And will be ordering some lighting upgrades through Matt once he has the pricing all sorted. There are a few options lighting wise you can go with depending on what you want, which is Really cool!

I’m glad I didn’t bring more money because I sure would have spent it! Between Matt’s offerings and Sakebomb’s, I’d be in the poor house.

Thanks again Matt!

These lights were indeed sexy. Definitely getting these.
I spent a while talking to Matt as well. Unlike Montego, I just told him to take my money.

I'm curious on why you didn't just purchased them on the spot like SilverTRD or were they all spoken for as I figured?

Question regarding the brackets for the lights - I assume you still use the OEM headlight motor control arms with the kit? I ask because I may have to twist your arm to sell me a set of brackets for my one-off install. My fabbed up control arms are okay, but they do allow some shaking of the lights when going over bumps and I feel the stock OEM control arms would control this better.

Thanks!

Yeah definitely! That would have cool to put a face to the name. Funny you say about wearing a name tag because the thought of having my avatar and screen name printed on a shirt crossed my mind.

And BTW congrats on the purchase of the lights! The reason I though/think they went quick was because the guy who was speaking to Matt right before me offered to be a volunteer and Matt didn't jump on his offer. Which makes sense given how long we have been waiting for this product.

M-

P.S. Still patiently waiting for the production run...

I guess I'm dense. Although, in my defense, I'm still recovering from a bad concussion. Didn't realize that was an option.

Oh wow. I've really left this thread abandoned for a while haven't I?

So here's where we left off...

We sent four sets of these into the wild. A couple of the members are on this thread, a couple aren't. All the feedback I got was positive.

The ONLY snag we ran into was slight contact on the low beam dust boots with the "arm" on the OEM assembly.

To be honest, we probably could have said "it's good enough" and sent them off into the world, but the hurdle started us down two different paths. One, was to figure out a way to modify things to work with the current setup... Two, was to figure out a different lighting option that eliminated the problem altogether.

Path one could have been as simple as asking customers to cut their OEM arm and attach a new arm we would provide. This wouldn't effect the pivot angle and would provide the necessary clearance needed. What I didn't like about this option was I was now going back on one of my initial goals - making this completely reversible. Once that OEM arm is cut, it's cut. Additionally, I wasn't 100% sure the relocated arm would provide *enough* clearance for future HID or LED modules.

Path two led (no pun intended) me to something I wish I had discovered a year ago. DOT/SAE, fully enclosed LED lamps. These would now solve two big issues, but create one as well. The two issues they solve are first off, clearance. Since the LED lamps are a much shorter (depth wise), there is zero interference with the arm. Second, since they are fully enclosed LEDs, they eliminate the need for external ballasts/modules. It's also not crazy to say, if you're releasing a lamp kit in 2020, having halogen as a "base" is kinda behind the curve, especially with all the improvements lighting has seen over the past decade, even HID (which, admittedly I love) is a tad dated.

"But what about the problem"? Yeah. So with regards to that, we're now adding a lamp to a bracket and shroud that are more or less locked in. That design is also based around the depth of the existing lamp. So what I'm doing now is designing a bracket that will attach to the NEW lamp and the OLD mounting point, while keeping the lens positioned in the same place in the shroud. It's really straight forward, just takes time. As of now, the bracket is pretty much there and scheduled to be cut this weekend for test fitting (so my CNC guy says). We'll see how it goes.

So at the end of the day, we will end up with a kit that has LED lighting as the base option. While maintaining all the previous goals we set out to achieve.

When? Soon. How soon? I'll let you know as soon as I know.
