Rogue motorsports pole position seat rail

Why do we need aftermarket seats?
inherently the Mazda FD3s RX7 always had issues with fitting racing buckets seats in place of the SOFA like oem seat. The highly sought after RZ/Spirit R variations of the seats are now 30 years old and at the price tag north of $5000 if you are lucky to source one from your local importer without the fabric being ripped or in need of reupholster. We started to look at modern day bucket seat solutions and nothing else could beat what RECARO has to offer.

Two of the seats that we based our R&D off are the Recaro Pole Position (430mm base) and Recaro SPG (395mm Base) , We felt that the RECARO Pole position in Jersey red is the closest thing to a modern updated Spirit R seat that you can purchase right off the shelf.

But to install this beauty into our RX7 is not as easy as most people think. Below are just some of the challenged we faced during the development phase.
- side holster touching door panel
- base is too wide binding
- seat doesn't sit low enough with the correct tilt
- center the seat to steering wheel
- seat belt options
- adding slider option without having the seat sit higher than oem.

with all these challenges that we need to over come we partnered up with Brian over at PCI Racing through the R&D phase to create a seat rail that i think will meet 90% of the users needs.

Rogue Motorsports FD3S Seat rail (Group buy Status Currently Active)

Features

  • Precision CNC laser cut and bent from one piece of 1/8” 3mm carbon steel
  • Multi way adjustability
  • PCI S1 high strength sliders, mounts to base with 4 bolts per slider
  • 5 and 6 point sub belt mounting locations
  • grade 10.9 8mm hardware
  • Powder coated base and side mounts
  • ¼” black nylon side mount spacers

Benefits

  • CNC bent one piece design allows for use of lighter 1/8” steel vs. heavy 3/16” to reduce the RX7 weight over stock seat + hardware
  • No modifications to any PCI seat mount components are required for installation
  • Uniquely designed for RX7 FD for the best possible fitment
  • Mounts to factory bolt locations with precise factory fitment
  • 5 and 6 point sub belt mounting
Please see fitment pictures above and testing notes below for any questions and concern.

Driver waist is 34 180lb 5'9 for setup reference

FD (MB) with Factory door panel:
-shoulder rest on driver door panel barely with PP in the lowest seating position possible
-passenger side seat with PP would touch the door panel (requires trimming or installing door card) you can raise the seat up higher shift the seat rail toward the inside of the tunnel about 1/2" and it might rest on the factory door panel. (i have no tested this)

FD (CYM) with LRB door panel:
Driver side clears not touching
passenger side just resting a little (could raise the adjuster up a little and pushing the mounting bracket toward the trans tunnel to give that 1/2" room.

After testing both setup extensively we were very please with them. having the ability to slide the fixed bucket seat on the fly make the only seat rail currently on the market that can accommodate the PP in our RX7.

Pricing and Group buy:
The seat slider mount will run you $300 per side + shipping
if you are interested in this please put your name down below and add to the list.
once we hit 20 buyers we will start production right away (1-2 weeks) , we already have a separate group buy in Northern California going so we should hit the # pretty fast.

Nice work! Will it work with other Recaros or other aftermarket seats?

It should work with other seats, our main concern was making sure it worked with the pole position. Also the shoulder wings can't be too wide as the pole positions rest on the door card.

I apologize for missing your msg, we've decided to discontinue this item after we sold out our initial batch.

That's too bad as this is definitely needed in the FD community. Wanted to upgrade from my solid mount. Hope you guys decide to make this as a product in the future.

The bottom molded steel shape is what I’m most interested in - going to mount side mounts directly to that and skip the sliders and get all way to floor
