I mainly want them because the seat is lighter than the current leather seats I have, and seeing as how my car is only driven on sunny days, having leather seating surfaces is murder during the summer.
I've always wanted these seats since they were offered from the factory but sadly they were never offered over here in North America.

So what are we up too now? 13 or 14 people?
I believe so, not counting any of the effort being put forth on the forgein forums.

Referral of questions for group buy

FIP has requested that we differ all questions and the group buy as a whole to his US distributor Sake Bomb garage. I will be shooting them a PM here shortly, and hoping they can chime in soon. A number of us can really benefit from this group buy, so I'm looking forward to is getting this done!!!

Sake Bomb!! bonus! I have an account with them already.

By the end of March if not mid-April for deadline would be ideal. I should have my finances sorted by then.

Thanks for doing this.

I can't do it any sooner.. too many things to take care of before hand. At least by end of March I'll have some breathing room.

for the peace of mind on the safety aspect just stick to the real OEM recaro seats..which would cost about around $1500 more on top of this replica and shipping cost also.

go look at this link http://www.fdrx7.com/forum/showthrea...t=14546&page=5
so far one person in Australia have test it out and comment it on this replica seats
In that thread they also talked about the rail not tilting as efficiently as the originals, due to a difference in how the levers are arranged.

I purchased a set of red covers a year ago, won't say they are bad, but they will be for sale shortly for less than I paid still BNIB... Took a long time to get emails answered initially, had an overcharge on the shipping, had to ask twice for that money back. Now have not received a response to the last 3 emails I sent 6 months ago for other inquiries for Japanese friends. (Probably best as I was looking for rails, see above) Seeing quite a lot of similar comments in that other forum.

I have encounter no lapse in response nor lapse in adequate information provided by FIP. In regards to the quality of the mechanism please refer to Post #40.

Should not touch this with a ten foot pole, ugh... but now that I read all the way through the thread, someone at some point needs to conduct the sanity check. So I will be the sacrificial messenger.

This is my comprehension of the purely business and logistical end so far:

"Which brings each pair of seats to be USD$1880 delivered. I can bring this number lower if we are willing to do sea freight, which will take a little longer to arrive but, yeah, cheaper." -quoted in 3rd person(4th now?) because the english speaking small company owner does not post here on the largest RX-7 forum on the planet when that is the core business of his website

25 pairs of seats times $1,880 is $47,000 USD total. wow...

Payment options offered thus far in the thread via 3rd party quote paste are, paypal as a friend, or wire transfer, all sent separately.

Each individual seat is about 160 inches boxed(L+Wx2+Hx2)... 2 of them then, from Australia, by other than sea freight(air?), $1880 Shipped to your door in the US or Europe, anyone who has shipped things to or from Australia is AMAZED at that low number. No information that I have seen posted yet on the shipping company, any tracking, or insurance.

doesn't sound right for me either..
also why do we need a third party company from the US handling this international groupbuy now? this complicates everything.

shipping from Japan to Australia by air which take about 5-6days to arrive to your door would cost around $700+ for a pair of seats. don't know how much it would cost for ship by sea which take longer and cheaper.
its a big number when come to 25 pairs of seats~ he will need prolly 2 container or more to shipped it by sea.

laujesse2 its pretty right on the cost of shipping.

In other words, the price is going to be no where near the $1880 mark.
I'm now looking at closer to 3G's for this?

Sure is alot of pessimistic posts lately....

this struck me as odd at first but then i thought it would actually make me feel more comfortable sending my money to a business like Sakebambgarage thats known and praised by the rx7 community. there was no way in hell i would send $2000 dollars to someone over seas as a paypal "gift" and have no chance in getting my money back if it turned out to be a scam...

I was going to say. If Sakebomb gets involved, this assures me it's going to happen and we don't have to worry about shipping and money handling.
Also, if Sakebomb does sign on, it means they've looked into the product and are backing it as a legit product.

I can't wait to see what the end result is going to be.

Would be quite surprised if SBG signed up for this, especially from a liability and copyright infringement standpoint. Recaro has been known to not take replica and counterfeit seats lightly, often ending up in lawsuits. Unless they were to remove the Recaro name from the seat.

Hope this deal works out for everyone involved, the rx7 community has been asking for replica rz/spirit-r seats for a long time!

I was wondering the same thing. The longer the silence goes on the more skeptical I get.

Hopefully ATX-RX will chime in today with some info. The dude fip refers to Sake Bomb as his US supplier, but it doesn't look like they've ever sold angry panda products. I'd just like to know if this group buy is or isn't going to happen.

to place everyone's mind at rest. this is the email I received from heath at SBG:

SakeBomb Garage
Feb 4 (2 days ago)

Hey Christian,
No worries at all... Francis and I have been working on it for some time but this is a good start and there's definitely interest to do a big import container. No toes have been stepped on, so not to worry

I'm waiting for seats to arrive from Francis to take some higher quality photos, but he may be able to take some better pics in the mean time. I'll work on a new thread and make an announcement in the current one in the next couple days once we get all of our ducks in a row.

Thank you for the work on the current thread and if there's anything I can help with etc. please don't hesitate to ask. I absolutely appreciate your time on this and helping to facilitate, and hopefully can return the favor in some way. Stay in touch.

-Heath
