We're hoping to have them trimmed up and clear coated by the end of the week!

Another set of prototype floor pans. Excuse the spray paint finish. The final version will come in a black gel coat finish. Grip tape included!

I'm interested but would prefer a flat floor pan that fits perfectly. Let the body contours be the sides

Looks like you could easily trim these as you see fit, CF is a lot easier than metal.

You can trim the sides, the sides are there to add extra rigidity, the 3rd dimension increases the stiffness of the panel, with the sides cut off it may have some flex...
I'll cut up one of the prototypes tomorrow and see how rigid it is.

EDIT: actually, if you want then without the side walls I can do that. I will just lay them up differently an add a core layer

yes, best way would to be scribe a line, and use a cut off wheel above the scribe line. finish off with a file or sanding block.
WEAR A MASK/RESPIRATOR when you do this
TIP: cover your skin with talc or baby powder, the powder fills the pores in your skin preventing irritation from fiberglass/carbon fiber

as per request. this is a FG mock up. With this design, it doesnt make sense to use Fiberglass anymore since the design is no longer using its strengths. If you guys are truely interested we can make them from aluminum and will visually look the same without the sidewalls. I'll take eliminate the flexibility by bending the edges and bracing the seams. Aluminum sets without the side wall will be priced at $315 as well

1/8 inch thick diamond plate won't flex at all and you have the center support section of the cars floor structure to support it. A big 5x5 sheet would be 250 max.

How much to just cut some diamond plate floor pans to fit with appropriately placed screw holes?

Thanks!

PS also some door panels made out of 1/8" aluminum sheet the CF one you have for sale look cool but would make the rest of my car look like junk LOL

Fritz, if my calculations are correct, (going by estimates) the weight of diamond plate in 1/8" is extremely heavy. (diamond plate steel)
1 sq ft of 1/8" diamond plate is ~6lbs
14 gauge (thinner) is ~3.75

If you are referring to aluminum 1/8" diamond plate its roughly 1.9lbs per sq ft

a rough eyeball, our floor pans are ~3sq ft

Although there is the cars floor beam there, it is offset, so when you apply pressure on the left side (ie getting out of the car) it moves and tilts down, this is one of the reasons we also added the sidewalls. The sidewalls add a very snug fit preventing the floor pan to shift and minimize movement.

If we do remove the side walls, I would highly recommend adding the support beam built into the floor pan on the left side to compensate and minimize movement.

as far as the diamond plate route, it would seem to be pretty expensive as id have the extra expense of the left over stock diamond plate unless we can find others interested as well (ill also check my supplier if they carry smaller size sheets)

via door panels, haha thanks for the compliment im sure your car will look far from junk with them in! But we do offer aluminum sets now @ $350 a set with various finishing options!

Yep I was thinking aluminum.

Nice stuff but in my case a fab shop can do it for less and looks are not that important.

On the carbon fiber version it would be cool if you could lay carbon over rx7, so it would show the print of the rx7 almost like a floor mat.

Mini update:
We have temporarily abandoned this project as I was trying a different method to make the molds which have resulted in a disaster. Each part i make i have to repair the mold, so I'll be remaking the mold later on.

but we do have a Fiberglass set for sale.
$325 + shipping

If you're interested PM me with your zip code and i'll get you a shipping quote
