We're sending out our kits next week--Hella delayed their headlights in a big way and it's been a real pain on our customers. Our plan is to fully ship the orders we have and make sure that the installs go well. Once we've gathered all the feedback we'll set up a second run. Stay tuned!

Thanks! I'm going to post some pics of the production units this weekend. It looks a lot better when both lights have the CF trim!

Installed these headlights over the weekend. They look awesome and are a noticible improvement over stock. Total change in appearance.

Well done Chris!

Yes, give us some pics please. Hopefully you took some pics of the install process too. Would be nice for everyone to see what they are getting into but based on the description, seems like a pretty straightforward install.

Props to Chris for doing such a nice job on his lighting kit. Also many thanks for the harness "advice" you gave me. Worked like a champ and all four of my lights now stay on with the high beams. And I thought the low beams lit the road up!

There was definitely a little bit of a learning curve to putting together the kit and installing them.

I would say that a dremel with a few cut off wheels and a grinder bit would be good to have.... Unfortunately I did not take pictures of the install (Chris provides pictures in his installation manual).

I am hoping to take some pictures next weekend. I am definitely pleased with the outcome. I really look forward to seeing what else Chris comes out with

Chris can you post pics from the instruction manual to show how easy this is?

Hi everyone,

I'm really grateful to our initial customers for being so patient with the delays we experienced. The kits are arriving and installs are happening which is good. I've received some interest in when the next production run will happen, and we're hoping to do this in the next 4 weeks. It's important that we gather feedback and make tweaks so that new customers have an easier time with assembly and install.

just an idea, but would it be possible that you guys offer something like this that fits in a modified stock shroud to give it a sleepy eye look? I'm thinking cut a few inches out of the center of the stock shroud, bondo them together, and plasti-dip/flat black paint them, and then stick these lights in? Just something to chew on.

David, I've been following your thread and that's what gave me the idea. I'm a college student so budget is always on the mind (although not enough to keep me from getting an FD). I love your custom kit, but I have a feeling it's going to be way too expensive for me, especially since I now need to rebuild my motor. Necessity is the mother of invention and I'm always trying to think of new things. I don't think anyone in town has the tools needed to make a custom shroud and I'm thinking that using two 60mm lights per side with a shroud similar, but smaller, would yield the desired effect.

Chris would be your man for something like this. I'm going to have the shroud guy offer them for sale so others can piece together a kit. What you could do is start with the Hella halogen lights instead of HID and this would save big bucks for you. For example, a 50mm projector HID is $545 per light so just the HID projectors will set you back $1,100, not a bargain deal. But if you were to use the the same units in projector halogen, they are $127 per light, or $254 per set, quite a bit of difference. And the halogen high beams are $60, or $120 in total. So if you went halogen, which would give you much improved lighting anyway, you could buy the lights just like mine in halogen instead of HID and your cost would be $400. Throw in the shrouds and you would be under $700 I would think or 1/2 what I paid for the HIDs.

I know Chris has worked on this idea (sleepy eye pop up) in the past but he ran into the issue I have been dealing with, bumpstop. What this means is with sleepy eyes, the headlights tend to bounce when you hit bumps which can be annoying. This is because the OEM rubber stop used to control this no longer works at the lower height. I have partially solved this problem thru the use of springs to hold the units tighter and under normal driving it works fine. On bumpy surface, not so much so I am looking at other solutions.

I'd love for Chris to take my idea and run with it and would offer up my shrouds for a mold or would hook him up with the shroud guy.

Do you know what the light pattern is for the mini Hella HID fog lights? I have a new set in a box that I never mounted intended to replace the oem set. What i'm wondering is if it is the same pattern as the low beam then regular lights would work but if it's the short wide beam then i'd proably still want HID low's.
