I'm excited to make it, but even I have to wait and finish my prior obligations. I really need to get these FD vmounts out now that the GB for them is closed.

When I had a rotary it seemed like I couldn't find half of what I was looking for.

Now it seems like new products are coming about. Even though I'm not in this market anymore, I do appreciate a company innovating new products for an older sports car.

Kudos to you Rotary Extreme.

You may also consider looking at AFCO radiators, the prices are much more reasonable, and many track guys swear by them.

Well, It'll be a few years before I find a 10th AE FC for myself. But I want to make stuff for the FC because it is a more affordable platform to start with then an FD. You can get a stock or a little moded FD for 10 to 15k. I know for a fact that with 10 to 15k you can get an FC and a whole lotta nice stuff for it.

For me I gotta get the AE FC before I get another FD.

I'd like to see your finished product, expectations are very high for the suggested price. I was very disappointed by the IC selection fore the FC and ended up making a VMIC for use with FD manifolds, that only cost a few hundred bucks and seems to work very well. I would imagine your kit to be near bullet proof and superb fit but it would need to be to justify those costs. Just seems way overpriced to me but then again my comments might not be worth much since I already have my own VMIC. Just some input from a fellow member. It will be a different story when you can post some pics of the products and some data logs to show the difference it makes compared to a stock TMIC, cheap FMIC and name brand FMIC.

NJGreenBudd,

I feel you, the price is steep but it is also a rough and safe estimate. The whole reason behind this all is to make a kit that will be track ready and will eliminate any headaches that someone has to go through to make a vmount set-up. Everything will be in the kit that you will need to hit the track. Besides, a modified radiator, vmount i/c, upgraded fan that bolts to the radiator, brackets, silicone hoses, t-bolt clamps, power steering cooler, polishing.... it all adds up.

But it will be a complete bolt on, nothing is perfect but I will do the best I can to make it.

As for comparisions, you will see the real difference at the track. The I/C core itself is what makes a fair amount of difference at the track.

For people without vented hoods, I will supply stand-offs to raise the back of the hood a little to help get hot air out and to help with airflow.

It will be upto the customer if they want to use the stand-offs, but they will be supplied.

Kinda sucks, I'll eventually have some cool stuff for the FC, and I wont even have an FC for myself...lol

Ben

March 2010? Looks about perfect for me.

For the people who are wondering about the cost, you have to think, its going to include another rad, IC, piping, brackets, etc. to make the kit full bolt on.

Think about it this way. Put a price on your R&D if you were making your own kit. Make a flat hourly rate and then count up how many hours it would take to measure out what size the brackets need to be, what locations work best, re-doing messups, running back to the local hardware store for more parts, test fitting things to see how they line up, etc.

Things really add up after a while. For (hopefully) being a full bolt on v-mount kit with quality parts, i think the price is quite reasonable. And he said it may even go lower.

On top of everything, you cant exactly just piece together a ebay IC core with some random piping and slap some aluminum on the sides and call it a day. You'll end up with some serious heating problems and have no idea why.

I'm extremely interested to see the outcome of this kit. If it comes around the same time as tax season, I'm definitely in on one.

Thank you for understanding this. I own a business, ofcourse I need to make profit too. But, I also want to provide a quailty product. Just like the FD vmounts, there will be different sizes to help best suit your application. I will not know the finished price until it is done. But 2k is a rough and safe estimate.

Also please understand that all hoses will be nomex (rated 500F) and comes with t-bolts for i/c and rad. The kit also comes polished. You will get your moneys worth.

Also, please try to make it Street Modified legal. As long as you don't have to modify or remove any frame pieces or the bumper support it'll be fine.

Here is a discussion about the FD kit if you're interested:

I read the debate.

The front frame rail on the FD is not there for chasis support. It is there to support routing of hoses, and a loction to bolt on the stock IC and misc stuff.

I will modify my wording in the morning to be more correct.

" the kit comes with a modified support bracket the supports the top of the radiator and supports the back of the intercooler thus relieving the stress placed on the IC couplers. This also allows a place for the power steering cooler to be attached."

Just keep the stock one with you if the ref has any questions. This part is obviously not a chasis support item and that it is a big bracket to attach stuff to.

Anyways, people modify the factory R1/R2 strut tower bar with a beefier one and get away with it. Honestly, "the front frame rail" should not be an issue.

Its a big bracket.

Here some pics.

You can see the new bar is really a support bracket and not a chasis brace.

My wife and I.

Our fish, One peral koi and one butterfly koi.

Calvins Track vmount with the kit installed showing the support bracket.

Your right though, when you add all the various components up and the time it takes to make it fit right, it's not a cheap process. Especially if your making this one to mass produce, you need to have it fit like a glove. It took me a long time to get the piping and ducting the way I needed it, all the fitting and cutting and refitting, man it would have been nice to have some sort of instructions and plan to go by. I spent countless hours to design my system and I would be hard pressed to do it again.

Good luck with the project and keep us posted.

Sorry, Starting it in 2 months. The testers car needs it done by end of March. Will be released to everyone else in April-all 3 kits.
Low power-stock to 300
Medium power-upto 450/475 whp
High power-500+

The first release will be sold as Group Buy introductory price. So everyone will save 100 to 200 off the list price right away, who knows.... maybe more discount.
