Rotary Extreme FC hood damper GB open
Rotary Extreme is proud to present the FC hood damper kit.
The Rotary Extreme hood damper kit enables you to open the hood without the hood rod which interferes with some parts installation and some stock mount aftermarket intercoolers. The damper kit is designed to be installed without any permanent modification to your vehicle or the hood. There is no drilling or cutting involved. The installation can be done with simple hand tools in 15 min: bolt the CNC machined brackets onto the hood hinges with the longer M6 flange head bolts provided, replace the fender M6 bolt with the custom ball stud provided, snap the hood dampers onto the ball studs and you are done! It can be used safely with either the stock hood or an aftermarket hood because the CNC machined brackets bolt onto the stock metal hood hinges, not the hood itself.
The kit includes two dampers, two CNC machined aluminum brackets that are bolted onto the hinges of the hood, 4 ball stud accepters, 4 ball studs and 4 longer hood bolts to accomodate our brackets. Our aluminum CNC machined hinge brackets use both studs of the hood that they can be installed without worrying about the correct orientation, unlike other inferiorly designed damper kit.
***GB special open right now, will close 11-30-2010***
The kit normally list for $155 plus shipping ($15) total 170.
Gb price is 10+ people and you get it for $140 plus shipping, $155 total.
NOTE!!!
Turbo II "steal" hoods require different shocks then Aluminum hoods and CF hoods. Please specify which hood you have when ordering.
To see the hood damper kit itself.

Cool. I will definitely be ordering one within the next few weeks for the group buy. I like that it uses the stock hinges to lift the hood, so it is ok with a carbon fiber hood. My last car I used to have to lift the hood up and stick the damper on without the clips to keep it held up.

There is a problem when using google chrome, fire fox sometimes and other browsers. But everything works using Internet explorer.
If you do not have internet explorer just send the price we talked about to rotary_extreme@hotmail.com

I will make this normally, the GB is just for special pricing.
The kit normally list for $155 plus shipping ($15) total 170.
Gb price is 10+ people and you get it for $140 plus shipping, $155 total.
If I do not get 10+ people I will have to ask for the normal amount. But If I get close to 10+ I can keep it at the GB price.

just a suggestion, because i honestly don't think that the billet bracket is worth $100.

there would be more interest i'm sure if the price was dropped a little. this isn't a great deal considering it costs more than even the FD kits or the kits for the FC on ebay that cost 1/3 the price.

I respect that. But my cost into it will not let me.
But show me a kit with brackets this strong, also I am providing the longer bolts so that you guys do not have to. No the cnc pieces do not cost 100. But I do not own a cnc machine. I also have to cut the ball studs short for one set to clear the hood in the bracket then I have to cut the ball studs to have the correct thread pitch that goes into the fender.
Also I have to pay for shipping for parts to me so when all is said and done I am not making that much money. But being a business owner I am not making things just to make 5 dollars of each item I sell. Also I do not sell cheap stuff, my parts will last and take the abuse.
Also I can not compete with ebay pricing, neither can HKS, Apexi, Greddy... and so on. You want a original quality part, you gotta pay to play.
I would not want to build my beloved RX7 with immatation Ebay parts, would you.
I support people who take time to design and spend their own money on making things for cars. Also my FC hood damper kit cost me 320 to make. Maybe if I sell 100 kits I'll get my money back.....lol.
I made these because I want to bring back some good quality stuff back for the FC.
I'm sure someone will copy the kit and sell it for half the price, that would be a good time to buy them then...lol
Thanks, Ben

I have also seen these ceaper FC hood damper kits where the shock goes to a ball stud that screws thourgh (one) hole of the brackets straight into the hood.
So now you have the force of the shock going to a bonded nut inside a CF hood.
How many years do you think it will last under harsh conditions like body flex during racing and opening the hood hundreds of times for those of us who constantly tinker with our car.
My kit spreads the weight over both bolts, gives a much larger foot print for the cnc bracket against the hood hinge and the preasure of the shock is on the bracket and two bolts and not just one bolt alone.
You pay for quality parts that will last and not fail on you.
That is what I make.
Hope that also explains why some kits are cheaper then others.

They are the same company used on my FD hood dampers and my hood damper kits have been in production for the past 8 years with no issues. I use only proven parts and this is also why I have to use beefier shocks for the FC turbo 2 steal hood.
And no they do not bottom out, there is room left when the hood is closed.
I have properly done my R & D.

Also, I've seen you specifically say "turboII steel hoods" several times. most steel hoods on RX-7s are actually NA hoods. Most basier S4 NA models came with steel hoods and some S5s. Steel turboII hoods are actually very rare, most have aluminum hoods.
