Yeah, I figured.. I'll just try and borrow someones aftermarket radiator and run stock boost levels for my track day on the 3rd and 4th.
I just had to make sure everything is legit, The new core is just a tad different then the original one so I have to make sure piping is good, plus I need to make the turbo to IC side. So at least the wait is accomidated. Ben |
any progress?
|
none this week, I had to prioritize personal issues.
I'll start again this sunday. Your vm is done, I just need to test fit it and verify the brackets prior to powder coating. As for everyone else, the silicone elbow will go to the extension pipe that the factory relief valve goes to. Im clearing things up so I can get these all out before I go to Russia for 6 to 8 weeks and jab or feb. This is why I needed to clear som personal things up so I can give back 100% time to this GB. Ben |
just a heads up to everyone, on S5s that pipe is plastic, so you'll want to replace it as well. it gets very brittle from the heat of the turbo.

I can supply a pipe there so that you guys can mod it how you want for a bov or I can run the elbow straight to the compressor outlet. let me know your config so I can accomidate you. Ben |
Ben, quick question about your fd battery kit. Does the one with tie downs come with a battery? And do you have any in stock? I have a friend who needs one badly. Let me know. Also, any updates on this?

can you be more specific on "Also, any updates on this?" another note: I spoke with my cnc guy and he can make beefier dash defrost vents that sit close to the front wndshield. apparently these are always broken. some dude on ebay was trying to sell these vents that were broken into 20 pieces, no joke, for like 20 bucks. I was like WTF? anyways, just gauging interest. They would be abs plastic and beefier. They would be black only. No pricing yet, just seeing if there is interest. |
everyone please PM me your request:
what I want to do: For the turbo to IC, I want to do a 2" to 2.75" reducers with a silicone elbow either from directly from the compressor or from the extension piece where the factory BOV goes, to the 2.75 pipe that goes to the IC. Keep in mind that this will have to clear what ever strut bar you have. I have also bought a genric strut bar to help with elbow height. Since I can make this section a little custom let me know what you guys want. Please PM me or email me at rotary_extreme@hotmail.com. the reducers can be seen here, 90 Degree 2" ID to 2.75" ID Transition Silicone Elbow : atpturbo.com Ben p.s. Remember I am covering the charge for this for everyone who bought the kit to help make up a little bit for the delay. This will included everything to get it from your turbo to IC. |
For me, a simple elbow reducer would do, but I would probably do an aluminum elbow instead when I get around to it.

Are you essentially asking whether we want to use the factory pipe that diverts to the stock BOV? Instead I planned on mounting an aftermarket BOV between the turbo and IC with this:
https://i.imgur.com/AHq1u.jpg https://i.imgur.com/sMkUz.jpg https://i.imgur.com/09l7m.jpg The elbow is about 2 & 3/8" OD. If it looks like you could make it work and look good I'll send you the elbow. If it'll work but will take a lot more time I can chip in a little extra, plus the pipe needs to be re-welded to the elbow. I asked the seller about a replacement, but they said they were out of stock. |
speed of life, and everyone else please either pm me or email me your upgrade intentions
i know this ebay bov greddy copy, becareful of the diaphram above 10lbs so you want this to go straight to your turbo and then get it to the IC. email me for details. rotary_extreme@hotmail.com |

heres so more progress
everything is out and ready for cutomer test fitments and re-design of piping. after taking aprt my car on the turbo side i saw something very disturbing, check out this exposed wires and connections......wtf, theres a few more i didnt take pictures of too. I might need a new harness. |
I'm not terribly surprised, these are 25 year old cars now :) and the wiring isn't particularly high quality.
you can buy a new engine harness from mazdaspeed for like ~$600 a local dealer is probably a bit more expensive. |

I call a dozen places. As far as I know i bought the last one from Mazdatrix. Mazda Canada had 6 a few years back. I could have bought it for less then half price of what it cost me to get it at Mazdatrix but I would never have believed that they would have been sold out in a few years. I think corksport sells a hand build harness. |

sigh, time to start search for a used one and piece together something....lol
ok, so heres where im at. I'll have the new piping done in like 2 weeks. This is a customer’s kit so it should ship by end of the month. Then they all should go at 1.5 to 2 week intervals apart from each other. piping diameter had to be reduced from 2.75 to 2.5. Its really a non issue but it clears the ps and I dont have to oval-ize the piping like I do with the 2.75. The parts used have changed a tad but the piping diameter on the IC will stay at 2.75. When I first made the kit I was using a car that was not stock. Now that I have a T2, my god.... you guys would have had fitment issues. Buying this car was the best 1299.00 I ever spent. Anyways, heres the pics. This is an S5 kit, you can tell by the extended radiator neck. |
