And believe me, I have bought two kits from him, one kit a year or two ago and another kit a couple weeks before this group buy started, everything is top notch and high quality parts and if you try to price all the parts out, you will not find them for less than $300 just for parts, and he is charging less than $100 more for all the labor of putting everything together and getting all the parts together for one great package, all other places were charging $750-$900 for the same type of set up, you guys are getting a great deal, a few weeks are worth it, I promise you will not be disappointed, both of my rx7's have TurboIIrotary hid conversions in them and they are awesome!!!

 

My kit came yesterday. Everything looks very nice and professional. I bench tested the kit and everything seems to work great. Have not installed it in a car yet, obviously.

I got mine the other day and will probably be installing them sometime next week. So far, they look pretty good and the extra equipment looks to be pretty solid. Only issue I am seeing is that one of the headlights has some crusty looking black flakey stuff in it while the other is perfectly clear / clean. It is definitely on the inside of the lens... I was thinking about hitting it with compressed air to blow it loose then immediately following up with a shop-vac to try and suck it out...

 

No luck with getting the black flakes out. Not thrilled about it but they seem to be stuck in the glue used to put the headlight back together.

Ran into another problem I don't know if anyone else is having... Figured I would go and install the lenses today and worry about the wiring next week (I never drive it at night and barely drive it during the day). Took off my old lenses to find out that the screws that hold the lens retaining bezel are too short to fit with the new thicker lens in the kit... Guess I will hit up Home Depot next week and try to source some longer screws and possibly some nylon spacers to make everything fit correctly. Just getting longer screws will just bend the bezel too much and I don't want it to break.

 

Mine fit just fine. The bezel just seemed to stretch.

 

My second kit was like that, I think he either used a different glue or put more of it on, what I ended up having to do was heat it up with a heat gun so the sealant got soft again, then squeeze it together nice and tight and immediately mount it before the sealant swells back up, it worked just fine, just gotta get it soft before mounting and it'll bolt right up

 

One of mine had condensation in it. I'm hoping that will go away after a bit of time...

Also one I had them on I now found out my headlights were soooooo misaligned and that was causing my lack of light problems.

These are awesome. So glad to be able to see at night now!

 

It should go away the housings are completely sealed and I do a water test where I put them face down in water to check for leaks. It has something to do with pressure difference and the housing don't have vent holes molded in them. If you want to get rid of it fast take the bulbs out of the housing and stick the housing in the oven for 10min at 200°. It shouldn't take that whole time but the condensation should dissapear. Let it cool then reinstall.

They should have vents built in on both sides of each housing towards the top. Some condensation is normal, but non vented units will have a recurring condensation problem which will turn into actual water in the housings over time if they are not in place. It will be worse when temps change (at night) and seasons change. Hopefully the vents have been added and it's a temporary problem.

 

I didn't add any vents did you just drill holes in yours? What did you do so water doesn't come in?

 

The housings CAN'T be completely sealed or you will induce condensation, which will then turn into actual water droplets over time. We use the same housings and they are actually vented from the factory, but in a hack way... the oem setup has vent holes in the rubber back cap. These housings must have vents added, especially with the larger heat sink of the projectors in there... there's much more of a temperature differential and surface area versus halogens.


You'll need longer m4 screws with a cylindrical spacer to accommodate the thicker lens. These have to be used or you will ruin your bezels. Don't try to tighten them down without the longer screws/spacers temporarily.

 

No, it's got to be waterproof... we create our own 90 degree vent and add that to the housing... you have to be careful with the design or during the rainy season water can enter the vents if not designed correctly. But yeah the vents are very much necessary to equalize pressure/temp. Some condensation is unavoidable (especially in corners) but the vent placement and size are important to create flow/circulation and allow a place for the moisture to go. We also account for dust, by using dust filters.... there's quite a bit of work that goes into the vent design etc.

 

I see hmmm I guess mine are not completely sealed I am still using the rubber cap.

What was the headlight lighting fused at? . 5amp, 7.5 amp mini fuse?!.
