Would low oil pressure Cause over heating ?

This is an FD , My FD had a bad oil pump .

I increased the cooling , with a large koyo radiator , vented hood , meth / water injection bigger intercooler .

BUT it would stay at good temps here in miami during daily driving , BUT when I pushed it semi hard temps would go up . eventually spun a bearing and everything went caboom .

But now I'm thinking could the reason for the rise in temps be the extra friction caused by having all of 30 psi oil pressure at full throttle?

or does my cooling system still need improvement.

I do hope it was not a ebay koyo rad as they are all fake and sub standard performance

no it is not an Ebay radiator, and yes they are terrible . I've seen one up close .

but well . I guess cooling is just lacking . I have since reworked my cooling system some , and will be adding a second oil cooler . so lets see if this helps .. i hope it does

What were you water and oil temps?

How do you know you were not actually getting correct oil pressure? Did you use an aftermarket oil pressure gauge? The FD stock gauge can be extremely inaccurate. Mine read 10-20psi on WOT at times and means nothing.

Yes I know and thats what I thought to until....

I spun a bearing due to lack of oil , even though the car was full of oil .

and the oil pressure gauge always read about 5psi at idle ,and between 20-30 while cruising .

but now with the new motor it stays over 60 while driving and steady 40 at idle

Same gauge , same sensor .

the better question is: where is your intercooler now?

Front Mount <-- my one regret after the front mount temps definitely went up . quicker . but in FL since its flat temps never really went up when I took it up to Deals Gap it started to see higher temps .

So Like I said I've been working out ways to see if I can keep it cooler , without having to resort back to a stock mount .

Rather save up for a good Vmount .

and the second oil cooler I hope will make a difference .

And My car never overheated . But it went alot higher then I normally saw so I panicked

normal temps used to be 86C

At deals gap going up the dragon . I saw 106C once

Hopefully with my revised cooling system . and dual oil cooler I can keep that down .

But my car was also running on ridiculously low oil pressure so I'm hoping better lubrication in the system will help out a bit as well.. If not I'll end up resorting to a stock mount , But I disliked the stockmount because I would see intake air temps as high as 80C here in miami traffic due to heat soak .

I had overheating problems with my previous FMIC, I changed all hoses, thermostat, sensor, and it wouldn't make a difference, even at cruising speed it would climb to 94-96c a little boost and it use to go up to 104c, one day I took the intercooler of and just ran a piece of straight pipe and went for a short ride, temps wouldn't go up above 78-80. That's when I build my v mount kit temps wouldn't go up above 88 no matter how hard I abused the car.

Unless you have a Trust or Apexi Fmic that sets the IC inside the engine bay allowing more air to come in I wouldn't run any other FMIC kit here in SFL, by the look of your intercooler it pretty much blocks any air to the radiator.

No its a home made kit .. intercooler was a gift from a friend. And I just made the brackets , and ran the piping .

cruising temps are fine . I also have a much larger Cooling Hole Due to my Mazda speed replica bumper.

I will eventually go V mount weather i made it myself or buy one .. Is still up but aslong as this works i'll keep it I've also noticed temp now rises according to intake air temps .

Hotter the intake air temps get the hotter the motor gets . This was at an auto-x the whole racing , then heatsoaking then racing thing raised my intake air temps and since I'm not running meth injection currently Just another part of my missing puzzle .

My only reservations VS going to a V mount . Is the AC lines..

I run AC . or well i want to. Currently I just need to relocate the dryer to a better place and fix a bad line . and I have AC .. but if I V mount i'd have to elongate the piping to match I know somekits come with AC lines .. so Thats why I am debating the whole just buy a kit and AC lines , rather then remake everything and then take it to an AC shop to re do the AC lines.

who knows how much they will charge me. LOL .

I guess i've been blessed cause i live in sunny hot as hell Caribbean and since going FMIC my temps dont rise past 84c cruising and dont go above 88-89c hitting it on the streets. Track days the max i've seen is 96 after a few laps.

Try mounting a small fan between the intercooler and the condensor/radiator like i did and see if it helps.

hah maybe I will . But so far temps have been good . I plan to go to the dragon later this year and we'll see how it goes if need be i'll pull the bumper off and run that fan haha
