Wipers turn on when I press the open sunroof switch.
I have a 1990 NA, but I am installing everything from a 1989 TII. I did not swap the interior wiring harness, just the engine side of the harness.
It seems that when I try to open up the roof, the wipers turn on and the roof does nothing. I am not sure why, but either I missed something, or this is where the complications in the swap show up.

No, it's not a vert model, It is the switch with the inside lights that opens the small roof cutout for the hardtops. I may swap out the interior harness if I can't figure it out.
