You probably just want bushings, if you have an FC they like to dissolve over time.

^Shifter rattle is transmission dependent, not shifter dependent. No one knows why...no one cares enough to find out.

I agree that your bushings are shot for it to have play.

The short shifter I used on my FCs and FDs all rattled/vibrated a bit. I don't think either car really benefits from a short shifter. The stock throws aren't all that long and the shift feel gets very notchy feeling with a short shifter.

New bushings as stated above will solve your shifter play.

the E bay short shifters are junk. Bushings can be bought from www.mazdatrix.com there not too expensive.

thats not a short shifter. its a shortened shifter. it kinda reduces throw, but not by much. and what you gain from chopping it you lose from shift effort. also SA short shifters need a bend or you will hit the sterio surround.

yea is not a short throw.. just a few inches less.. btw which one are the bushings i need? cuz' at mazdatrix they sell some rubber ones and aluminum ones..and how many do i need? I guess i can change them from the inside of the car right.. inside the cabin taking of the shifter.

Thx in advance!

i have a mazdatrix unit (or so the PO of the tranny says) that came on the transmission i bought. i like the short shifter since te stock one (FC3S) seemed very tall to me but it does rattle above ~4500rpms and up. also, the shifting seems rougher and "notchy" but its not too bad

Its in my daily and I like it alot better than stock. and its really good quality even though its from ebay.
