So I found this very funny when I was joking around stated if me and my buddy raced all he would see is my tail lights, well know he is all Pissy because he thinks if I built a faster car then him he would just die haha. A little backgound will help here, he has built a few turbo cars and is a OK mechanic, and me a Novice Picked up a wrench for the first time back in may.

My buddy's car is a Honda Civic hatch that will be around 600-650hp

and I will be around 550hp this summer in my FD

So my question to you all is who do you think will win?

Race would be either be a drag 1/4 mile or a rolling start race

Depends on too many factors to call with that info. what is your powerband going to be like compared to his? Is either of the cars stripped? weight of each? What type of tires on the cars?Is their a driver skill difference between you two. Does either of the cars have anti-lag or a two step? You can go on and on but it comes down to seeing what happens in real life....

What shift **** does the civic have? Does it have aftermarket pedals?

 

I bet the Civic doesn't have 200hp to the wheels.

That said, the Civic would still win with 75 horsepower, because an FD will blow its engine before it makes it 1/4 mile.

If it actually had 650 HP at the flywheel and your FD had 550 to the flywheel, it should be obvious that in theory the Civic should win from a rolling start. That's a lot more power to the wheels. And the power to weight ratio would be better if it's an EG6.

1/4 mile would depend on tires and the driver, but probably the FD if nothing breaks.

 

The real winner will be the gene pool when you smash into each other and die in a fire

Damn you all are ripping on this guy like no other when he never even said that he was street racing him or anything illegal. If the cars are making the power stated than it would be fair to assume that they have the money to take it to a drag-strip or go to an event like the Texas top mile where they allow rolling start racing. Do you all just enjoy ripping on everyone who drag races their car? Why don't you start ripping on ErnieT then for having a fast drag rx7.

I personally don't drag race as I don't like an event where in 10 seconds or less you can destroy your entire drivetrain from the shock of launching the car over and over...But whats with all the hate on those who do? I've seen 10 second civics running around the streets and while I personally despise them I have respect the the amount of work that went into any car that is well built.

At what point did I say Drag racing is cool? lol I am currently building my car for the road course, and seeings how he is building his for Dragging I did the comparison in his format... Its one of my friends in a group of friends that have built cars and well he is the one with the ego with the buttons 2 press and the idea of me beating him erks him ha well not just me anyone in our group beating him erks him lol. Thus my reasoning for purposing this question. The responces in this thread are just epic I love it ha!
