Exclamation Where can I get my '85 RX-7 fixed near Ann Arbor, MI?

I just moved to Ann Arbor, MI - driving from San Francisco to Ann Arbor - and my car is leaking a brown fluid from the dash on the drivers side. I don't want to take it to the dealership. Does anyone know of any good rotary/RX-7 mechanics in the Ann Arbor area?

Is this leak down the firewall on the inside of the car ? If it is is the liquid brake fluid from the master cylinder ? Other than brake fluid leaking the only other posible fluid is if transmission fluid could find it's way up the speed-o cable. Don't know if that's possible.

Speedo cable leak possible, yes. The oring that is on the speedo gear can go bad. Have seen a few of them over the years. Both Auto and Manual.

Please read real SLOW.

There are only two places that fluid can leak from on the drivers side of the inside of the car. The nucking firewall has two sides, the motor side & the inside of the car in front of the dash. That is where there is potential for brake fluid from the master cylinder could leak. The second potential place for a fluid leak inside the car under the dash is transmission fuuid from the speed-o-meter cable. BOTH PLACES ARE INSIDE THE CAR & UNDER THE DASH.

Now if ya can't figure this message out ya shouldn't even be posting on a site because some of us try our best to forward GOOD information but some of you are to thick to understand the GOOD information.

Hey man, try posting over at http://mirotaryclub.com/forum/ This is the forum for Michigan. Sounds like a Brake or Clutch master cylinder leak. If you pick up a manual, then you can probably perform this work yourself. Dealership will rape you, and any corner shop will charge you your first born. However, you will probably be able to find someone locally to help you out if you post on the above mentioned forum. Good luck.

jmoser,
First welcome to the forum. I live in the Detroit Metro area and other than a stealership I do not know of a rotary specific mechanic. Please don`t go to them as they at best will overcharge you at worst damage you car.
Best starting place is mirotaryclub.com as recommended by Kentetsu. There are lots of guys who will be glad to answer your questions (there`s a concept some people just do not grasp) and even help you in person.

David Dewhurst,
The question asked was if someone could recommend a local rotary mechanic NOT diagnose the problem.

AZRotor,
Again, the question asked was if someone could recommend a local rotary mechanic NOT diagnose the problem.

Now as we can all see this guy has restated the question that he clearly asked at the begining of HIS topic. And he did so in a polite manner.

David Dewhurst,
This forum is here so we can all HELP one another. The way that works is someone askes a question and then other members answer those questions.
You have wasted more space than the rest of us and have in no way even attempted to answer his original question.
All the guy asked for was a recommendation to a reputable rotary mechanic nothing more. He did not ask us to diagnose it. There are guys who don`t work on there cars for whatever reason.
Your second post is just absolutly RUDE. If you are going to be a ***** you should find another forum to do it at because everyone here will call you on your **** EVERY time you pull it. With such a low post count no one will ever take anything you say as serious. You will become just another of "those guys" that runs his mouth but does not contribute to the betterment of this club or our cars.

Kentetsu,
Thanks for giving the new guy solid advice, this is what we are here for.
